MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
In the 7th uinal of Balance, Tone 10 manifests a new Consciousness of our Connection to the Creator.
Deer/MANIK is the sign of the Mayan Priest who holds the Authority to guide the people on an their quest to God Consciousness. The glyph illustrates a hand grasping a current that closes the circuit of our Spirit’s Connection to Divine Power.
Deer is meek, yet strong. The Cherokee see the Day Sign, Deer, not as the delicate doe, but as the Powerful Stag, and also known as Taurus the bull. Deer holds the Strength of Character and Integrity to Love with a Pure Heart. MANIK dedicates itself in service on behalf of the whole.
Deer’s strength lies in standing silently still, surveying the landscape in every direction. Deer stands guard, ever-prepared to leap into action at the first sign of danger. Deer holds a Silent Authority. The buck earns its place as protector by defending its territory. Though Deer holds great power, we are first drawn to its Beauty and Grace.
On Tone 10 we are able to manifest the senses of the Deer. Tone 10 carries a great responsibility. Our point in striving for Consciousness is that we Manifest what we can See to claim. Our Highest Aspiration is to become Conscious of the Spark that makes us One with Divine Power.
Deer/MANIK is the bringer of Spiritual Tools. The manifestation of our own Sense of Spiritual Authority, requires that we make a commitment of Integrity. Knowing the Truth that Power can be easily corrupted by our Ego, our direction must be guided by Vigilant Discernment. Deer helps us to see our limitations, so we can be given the tools to overcome them.
Given such power, our Human inclination is to use it for our own interest. Deer sees its Power as Holy, meant only for Divine Service.
To maintain the Purity of our Spiritual Authority, we must be witness of a Higher Power. We must die to our Human ways to be reborn into Spirit.
To all my relations, may we celebrate the evidence of Divine Justice in our lives. May we courageously look to our own limitations, to receive the Spiritual Tool to overcome them. May we claim our Prayers have already been answered, and volunteer to bear the Divine Timing of the Creator.

10 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)
Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation. What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility.
Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.
Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions. Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer: A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician. Ability to create harmonic resonance.
