MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
The Monkey/CHUEN trecena is inspiring us to step into the shoes of a Divine Creator. The Tzolk’in, the calendar of Human’s transformation, reflects that seated at the center of every Human is a Spark of Unconditional Love and the Power to Create. They are seated on the calendar as Dog/OC and Monkey/CHUEN, sharing the peak position of the Tzolk’in, side-by-side. They go together. Our Power to Create is dependent on Unconditional Love, and Creation is a dynamic expression of that Love.
The purpose of this trecena is to inspire us to Create an Expression of Love. We have a Creator, the Master of all Art, guiding us to Create.
The Monkey/CHUEN trecena is a Divine Experiment. CHUEN is able to tap in to our Inspiration and Imagination. We can set Reason aside for the time-being. We’re invited to play a game of Creation with the Monkey. The light-hearted Monkey approaches life like the game of a grand adventure. In the 7th uinal we are suspended from the structure of duality. We can observe the process free of judgement or characterization of “success” or “failure.”
When Human was created, the Creator had a plan, though there were an infinite number of ways it could express itself. Knowing our Divine Destination, each life story would be one of the Beauty of Transformation. Monkey/CHUEN guides us to experience our Self in the same way.
Tone 3 is the first day of Movement. 3 is a symbol of the Divine Trinity, God… the All, Human… the physical manifestation, and Holy Spirit… the Ether that binds us together. Tone 3 is a day to take action on an Intention, through movement or communication. Tone 3 is a demonstration of the trinity working together. The Creator inspired the idea and the Human expressed it through movement. Through a Holy Spirit a Dream from above is brought to life Below. Touched by the Holy Spirit it takes on an Ether of Consciousness. The Dream knows how to express itself and will lead us from the first step to the next.
Reed/BEN is the symbol of an altar and the Channels of Light that connect Human and the Creator. This is the channel that exists at the Center of our own Universe… a Kingdom of Spirit that lies within. The Monkey encourages our first movement to be an act of Humility. Our Dream of Creation is the Offering we Bring.
In the observance of 21 Days of Gratitude, we make an offering recounting the Blessings that are already Created. Gratitude is the Magic of the Jaguar, the symbol of Divine Spirit. Through movement we create a new vibration. We can remember that Light begets Light and Darkness begets Darkness. Gratitude is an Expression of Love. Want is an expression of Darkness. Through Gratitude the first vibration of our Creation will be born of Pure Love.
Reed/BEN is the Day Sign that calls our hearts to home and family. It is said to be a day to “bless or repair the home.” Home is the place where we create, the place where our Dreams are born. Our first duty is to home and family as the environment meant to generate the passion to express our Love. This is a day to express our Love to those whose lives we share.
Reed holds very High Expectations, though warns that we should not direct others with a “steel pipe.” Our Divine Authority is established through Love. Love is the Light of Spirit and Humans are naturally drawn to the Light.
Reed/BEN is a Day Sign that honors our children. Our Highest Expression of Love is Gratitude. It’s easy to say “I Love You” or “You’re Special.” We can only receive those expression in faith. We express the evidence of Love when we share what we’re grateful for. We could never remember all the times we’ve heard, “I Love You.” But, we remember when someone shares what they Love About Us. The encouragement we take to heart reflects appreciation for our inherent way of being.
As we give life to a new vibration, we can give thanks for our own inherent way of being. Approaching an altar within, we can acknowledge the Sacredness of the Holy Spirit that connects us to the Divine. We could give thanks to the Almighty that has taken us under its wing. In Humility, we can surrender our Dream unto the hands of the Creator to be elevated to its Highest Manifestation.
Through a Spiritual Communion, the Creator knows the Heart of our Dream. Though we may only see one way that it could be manifested, the Creator sees Unlimited Ways. By surrendering our Dream, we are opened to the unlimited ways of possibility.
Human’s all share the same Dreams. Everything we aspire to Create is what we have discerned would bring us happiness. We can let go and let God fulfill the Dream for our Greatest Happiness. The Intention we chose was Divinely Inspired.
In Humility, we would offer the Dream opening ourselves to its Unlimited Possibilities of Becoming. Our visit to an altar within is a “time out.” This is a place we would expect to rest for a while, waiting silently for Divine Inspiration. The Monkey would inspect all the details with intent curiosity. Our inspiration requires our Presence in the Moment. On the first day of Movement, the Weaver of Time might slow us down to take all the time we need. Creation will be guided in small purposeful steps that are directed by Divine Discernment.
Today is a New Moon, a new beginning, and the time to Offer a new Dream to the world.
To all my relations, may we recount the Blessings of Home, Family, and Friends. May we take the time at a Holy Altar to call our Blessings by Name. May we see in the material blessings the evidence of work by many hands, who like us, work for the survival of Home and Family. We could inspect the detail of another’s work. May we pray that what we create would be recognized as an effort of Love. May we see Mother Earth as our Home, and all of Humanity as our Parents, Children, Sisters, and Brothers. May we express our Gratitude for each other, offering the evidence of our Love by Acknowledging the Reasons we Love. May we fix and repair our “home” to secure the foundation of the place where our Dreams will be created. May we set aside Sacred Time to retreat from the illusions of the world, to reside in the Center of our own Universe. May we surrender our old crutches so we can experience the Fullness of the Miracle of Total Freedom. May our new “crutch” be the Expression of our Gratitude.
in lak’ech, i am another you

21 DAYS of CEREMONY: Day 3
Observing 21 days of Personal Sacred Ceremony is a traditional preparation for the K’iche Maya New Year, 8 B’atz (8 Monkey/CHUEN). The New Year is a celebration of Time, and the day of Initiation for the new Mayan Daykeepers. We are preparing for an initiation into a new way of being. We can employ the Magic of the Jaguar by observing these 21 Days in Gratitude.
Today I am grateful for the gift of movement and communication that allows us to be connected through Spirit, Mind, and Body. I’m grateful that we weren’t “cast in stone” but given a dynamic experience of being. I’m grateful for the undeniable Voice of the Creator that speaks to the heart, proving that the prayers we bring to an Altar Within are heard at an Altar Above. I Love the way the Creator surrounded us in the Beauty of a Living World.

3 Reed/BEN (Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA)
Galactic Tone 3: Action. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rhythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.
Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peace, harmony and order to all o their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a lot of appreciation, may have marriage or business problems because of inflexible vies and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson for Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe. Bless or repair your house.
Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini. Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind. A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.
