MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
We began in the Unity of Tone 1, connected to the Creator through a Divine Inspiration. On Tone 2 we are separated to make the discernment of our way to carry it out. The Tone 2 of Duality separates us to make a Choice of our Intention. We make a decision “to be or not to be.”
The Wisdom/CIB presents us with the Inspiration to let go of old ways and habits that may stand in the way of living in fullness of our own Spiritual Nature. We have to die to our ways of the world, to be born into the life that was planned for us as a Spiritual Being.
Given a new Inspiration for Creation, our first thoughts may be whether we “can” or “can’t.” We may compare how it would be harder for us than someone else. If the Intention is something we’ve tried before, we might think about our own past failures and wonder what would be different this time. This is a day when we may feel the “weight of change” on our shoulders. We long to be one with the whole, no less or no better, but equal to the task. Today, we’re prepared for our next “Leap of Faith.”
Earth/CABAN is a symbol of Mother Earth, the Power of Nature, the Source of all Human Knowledge, and a symbol of Movement. CABAN reminds us of our Oneness with the Whole of Creation. Earth is the foundation of life we share. Through Earth we can see how every creation was given their own special talent, each gifted to master the world they live in. Human was created equally. The only way we are different is in our perception. We were all created with the same abilities to accomplish the same things.
PORTAL DAY: Element of Ether – Portal Days thin the veil to other dimensions. These are days when we are capable to Experience our Spiritual Gifts. On 2 Earth/CABAN we are offered the Sense of Connection to the Old Ones and the guidance they would offer us in the Choice of our Intention. This is a day to listen to our own Intuition. Our Inner Voice is magnified to make itself Known.
The Old Ones are with us. They would likely advise us to consider how we are the same, instead of how we are different. The way we respond from our Human Nature is different, depending on where we are, and the influence of our circumstances. It’s true that some have more “worldly” advantages than others. Though the One thing we all have in common is a Divine Spiritual Nature. Within each one of us is the Gift to Create what we can imagine. As we consider an Intention for change, the Old Ones encourage us to Believe in our Equal Power through Spirit. We have something to rely on that exceeds the limitations of our Human Nature.
1 Wisdom/CIB, Kin 195, was the beginning of a new Season of the Tzolk’in round. In the flow of Human Transformation, we’ve entered our most productive cycle for dynamic developments. We manifested the Growth to new Maturity. We’ve been fully developed to accomplish our most important purpose. Our Spirit is reborn into a new Spring. Just as the Human body undergoes a transformation in the process of reproduction, so is the Spirit transformed to support the Intention of rebirth.
Illustrated as the Tree of Life, during winter the sap resides in the “down below.” It’s our Spiritual Nature to turn within to Dream our Winter Dreams of Spring. When the season finally arrives, the strength we’ve drawn from within – the sap of our Divine Inspiration – rises to produce the Fruit of our Spiritual Harvest.
Each of us were made equal in our ability to bring forth the Fruit of Spirit. Our own Spiritual Nature is in its own Season of Flowering that bears evidence that we are entering the peak cycle of production. The Power of Spirit is being multiplied to abundance.
The calendars of the Aztec and Cherokee relate to Movement and Rebirth. The Aztec’s Ollin resides at the center of their image of the calendar with reference points to 20 important cycles of movement. They define Ollin as a day to engage “the active principle” and not the “passive principle.” Ollin calls us to be willing to take action forward – warning that doing nothing could present a setback. The Cherokee Heron is a creature of perpetual migration – ever moving forward. The Heron is also the symbol of the Phoenix, born to new life from the ashes of its past.
The lesson that Wisdom/CIB presents for the Choice of our Intention is to leave our past behind… to Know that we’re prepared to accomplish something greater. We’re forgiven for “mistakes” of bad judgement we’ve made in the past. The person we’ve become through a new connection to Spirit has no history we can compare to. Like the farewell blessing, “Only that which is worthy and desirable goes forward with you.”
CIB wants us to experience our new “lightness of being.” By tuning in to the joy of that feeling, we become willing to take the chance to move forward. Unattached to whether we “win” or “lose” we Know that the Experience of Unconditional Love and Oneness with the Creator is worth a sacrifice.
The Old Ones, would remind us they were also made of Earth and returned to Earth. The water that held the Ether of their Spirit was returned to the rivers that flow to the ocean. The falling rain holds the Blessing of their Spirit. We are all One, together for all time – as close as the next breath and the soil in our hand. Their duty is to help us carry forward the mission of Human Transformation.
They’ve been given 13 days of creation to drive their Wisdom home. They’re the teachers who assign homework and expect us to sit up and pay attention. They do it for our best good and in service to the Whole.
The Old Ones remind us that the only question we need to ask is whether our Dream is worthy. Nothing stands in the way of accomplishing our Highest Aspirations. Choosing an Intention that is One with the Creator, we can have Faith in Divine Intervention.
We don’t have to know exactly what we need to do. We only need to go with the flow of movement that will be presented by Mother Earth. Our commitment is to be the student, ready and present for Divine Guidance. The prayer the Elders offered at sunrise was to ask the Ancestors, “What would You have me know today?”
To all my relations, may we leave the binds to past failures behind. May the questions we ask of our Dream is whether we should aspire to something even greater. May we choose an Intention as if anything is possible. May we cut the cords of Human Discernment and turn to our Divine Inspiration. May we expect a few scratched knees to be the extent of our risk when we are guided by the Old Ones. May we trust in the Their Discernment of what is possible, and expect them to enlighten us as we need to know. As we enter into the new Season, may we feel the sap rising within that raises our Spiritual Nature into the task of bearing the Fruit of our Harvest.
ON BEHALF OF MOTHER EARTH:
May we give something back to Mother Earth in acknowledgement of all that she gives us. May we honor that she too bears the time of our transformation, in constant repair of what we have taken. May we express the Trust we have in her to perpetually move us forward through our natural process of transformation.
in lak’ech, i am another you

2 Earth/CABAN (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)
Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.
Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.
Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. “The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Egyptian Phoenix.
