MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
The Transformation phase of each trecena begins on the Peak Tone 8. A Divine Agency steps in with a Sacred Exchange for our investment in a Divine Intention. An Intention to grow in Consciousness of the Creator is our Highest Aspiration. The Creator intended for Human to Remember and Believe in our Connection. The Intervention by a Divine Agency is a Promise that is fulfilled through a Transformation of Higher Consciousness.
Tone 8 holds the Intention of Divine Justice. We will always receive more than we can give in a return. The exchange of Unconditional Love is multiplied to abundance so Human would experience the exchange as an act of Divinity, the Miracle of Knowing the Creator’s Love.
Deer/MANIK is the Day Sign of the Mayan priest and shaman. The Light we receive is given for us to share. This is the Choice the Creator dreamed we would make to fulfill our Divine Destiny. On Tone 8 our Justice is Faith transformed to Belief. In the comprehension of the Divinity of our Intention, by Human reason we would believe in the help that would be provided. Human could only accomplish such a High Intention with the help of Divine Intervention.
8 Deer/MANIK is observed by the K’iche Maya as a day of Initiation of the Mayan priest. Today we are given a gift of being Seen by the Creator. We are seen through the eyes of the Creator in a Holy Light. The Creator would share the Consciousness that we are worthy, even as Deer/MANIK reveals our Human limitations. Today we can experience the Gift of Grace.
Deer/MANIK resides in the West, the direction of our Unknown Experience and the “hard road of life.” On 8 Deer/MANIK the Creator speaks through the Heart. Holding the Element of Water, MANIK touches our emotions through the Element that holds the Ether of Spirit.
Deer is the giver of all our Spiritual Gifts. MANIK draws attention to our own limitations. Drawn into Consciousness of the One Mind of the Creator, we would know that nothing is hidden from the Creator. We would know we are Loved in spite of every limitation. This Gift of Unconditional Love is given in full knowledge of our weakness. The weakness itself would make possible our Consciousness of the Divinity of the Gift we could never earn. Today, the Creator helps us see that we are worthy just as we are. Our Transformation is made possible by the Spiritual Tool of Consciousness of this Truth.
Deer/MANIK is also known as the Hand. The glyph illustrates the Human hand grasping the thread of Ether that completes a circuit to a Source of Divine Power. The circle on the Hand represents the Vigilant Consciousness of the Deer. Deer’s most finely honed Spiritual Tool is an ever-vigilant Consciousness of the Divinity of the Creator, the source of all our Spiritual Tools. We can carry out our Divine Purpose by keeping our eyes trained Heavenward. Others, seeing the Miracle in our own life, would follow. Today we grasp a new thread of Divine Consciousness.
Deer shares with others its own Consciousness of Unconditional Love. Standing in this Truth, the Spirit of the Deer would emanate this Consciousness through its gift of Harmonic Resonance. Vibrating in correspondence with a frequency of Pure Love, we take on the Holy Light that draws the Consciousness of Human eyes. All living creatures were designed with the Divine Instinct to be drawn to Light.
As our Day of Initiation we are drawn into the Light of the Creator. We are consecrated by the Light so that we could stand in the Truth of a Holy “I Am.” We are the “Wounded Healer,” offering our own broken heart in service to the Creator. We volunteer to suffer so that others could see the Miracles made possible by Unconditional Love. Others who suffer too would see that suffering is not an end of our Happiness, but the darkness that would reveal the Creator’s Light.
The Offering we bring to the Creator on our day of Initiation is the Truth of all our limitations. As knowledge of our own weaknesses are brought to Light, we will Know how much we are Loved. We will also know how incapable we are to share this Love Perfectly as it deserves to be shared. In sharing it we would Know it wasn’t accomplished by our Self. We’d know it is accomplished by the Intervention of a Divine Agency. Our Self and others would only “see the Light.”
To all my relations, may we kneel in the Light of the Sun to claim the Divinity of our “I Am.” May we feel the warmth of the Sun as the caress of the Creator’s Love that sees the Divinity of our Purpose. May we know a Power that is greater than all our limitations will Intervene to Transform us to a Higher Consciousness of Love. May we imagine how the Creator would look upon its firstborn and see the Hope in their eyes to one day walk in the same footsteps. May we see the wonder and innocence of children and Know this is perception of life the Creator would magnify to abundance. May we make an Offering. In the realm of Spirit, may we step into the Light bringing a medicine bundle that ties up all our limitations as a Holy Gift of Humility. May we Acknowledge the Sacred Exchange of Divine Justice that is returned for our willingness to be broken, so our works of Love would be Acknowledged as not of our own Power, but seen as the Miracle of the Divine Power that Intervenes.

21-Days of Gratitude: Day 14
I’m grateful that in the humility of knowing how unworthy we are, we receive the Gift of Knowing that nothing can separate us from the Love of the Creator. I’m grateful for Love that we know we never earned but was given without any conditions.

8 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)
Galactic Tone 8: Justice. Harmony and balance are the intent of Eight. Eights carefully weigh all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement, “As above, so below”. From simplicity to infinity, the energy of Eight organizes all levels of creation. Some Eights are “Neat Freaks”.
Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.
Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions. Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer: A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician. Ability to create harmonic resonance.
