MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

9 Monkey / CHUEN

Greetings Kin,

Tone 9 carries the Intention of Patience. As plans and patterns start to form, 9 encourages us to look at the bigger picture. Tone 9 offers a Spiritual Tool that guides us to always look beyond our initial inspiration for a deeper meaning and purpose. Number 9 is intent on completions and will complete the process of our Transformation to a Higher State of Consciousness.

Our Vision Quest set an Intention to live in the realm of Spirit. Just as we had to learn to walk in the physical world, we’ve been learning to walk in Spirit. The Elders compare walking to “leaps of faith.” When we learned to walk as children, we first mastered the balance of standing up. We master walking when we gain the courage to fall forward into our first step.

The AKBAL trecena has guided us to willingly enter the darkness. By Leaps of Faith, we surrender our Self to the Unknown, believing in our own Truth to guide us in the right direction, and securely held in the hands of the Creator.

Monkey/CHUEN is the Day Sign of the Creator. Dog/OC and Monkey/CHUEN are said to have an affinity, positioned together in the center of the Tzolk’in. Together, they reflect the characteristics that are Central to a Divine Creator. Dog is ever searching for the next opportunity to create an exchange of Unconditional Love. Monkey is the Creator and the Dreamer that holds Intellect and Consciousness. Together, they hold all the Spiritual Tools for Creation.

Dog reflects the Joy of Living. Monkey reflects the Human aspect of Curiosity, and the desire for Wisdom. Together they offer a healing to our emotions. Both live for the Joy of the next discovery. Both reflect a way of living that loves to explore every thread of the experience.

9 Monkey/CHUEN is observed as the day of Initiation of the Mayan Priestess. She is Acknowledged as the Creator of Compassionate Love. Like the Heart of the Mother, the Mayan Priestess Knows our suffering is One and the Same. She shares the Deeper Truth that what we Heal in our Self, we Heal for the Whole, because our suffering is a Collective Experience. Those who are the perpetrators are the unconscious who believe they’re the only ones. Today we can Give Thanks that we Know we are not alone. We can volunteer to offer our service to the Pack. A Healing for the Whole is a Healing for our Self.

CHUEN is the weaver of Time. The glyph illustrates “time rolled up” on the head of the Monkey. Monkey/CHUEN calls us to look more deeply to find the Beauty in our Life.

Monkey/CHUEN is an Archetype of a Creator. Unafraid of the Unknown, the Monkey is open to all possibilities. Monkey approaches Life as a divine experiment. Monkey/CHUEN is seen as the Master of all Art. Monkey starts things, but doesn’t finish them. It’s off to the next creation, when another beauty captures its imagination. Monkey allows for the Creation to Create itself from an inspiration or possibility.

CHUEN isn’t attached to the Dream so much as it is engaged by the fun of Creation. Monkey doesn’t have to know where the next step will lead. Monkey is free to leave one dream for another, when it finds something it likes even better. Monkey doesn’t live for an end, it lives for the inspiration of the moment.

Monkey/CHUEN is a light-hearted teacher that guides us to “not take our selves so seriously.” The Cherokee Racoon is a trickster that teaches in “good fun” to coax a smile. We might see the humor of it all. If we were making a journey and took a wrong turn, we wouldn’t stop by the side of the road to cry about it. We’d simply turn around or find a different way. We might even see something we would have never discovered on our direct route.

The Elders say there are many ways to accomplish the same thing. Monkey isn’t attached to doing things the same way everyone else does. Monkey sees the Art in the whole process of Creation.

Today is the celebration of our Feminine gifts of Intuition, Knowing, Discernment and Compassionate Love.  Tone 9 relates to “cause and effect” in matters of Spirit.

To all my relations, may we keep an open mind. When we come to the end of a road, may we see we haven’t hit a brick wall, only a place that invites us to turn right or left. May we not be so attached to the Dream in our Imagination happening in a certain way, that we close our self off from an opportunity for something even better. Instead of dreading the next potential hurdle, may we look forward to unexpected Miracles. May we Know our own Consciousness of a Guiding Light is our proof that we can see our way to the Creation of our Highest Aspiration. May we celebrate our Leaps of Faith as our own Dance of Spirit.

in lak’ech, I am another you

Debra, Jaguar Woman/9 Eagle/MEN

VISION QUEST:

THE TRECENA OF NIGHT/AKBAL

Visit the 13-Day Trecena Guide for daily aspects and events of the Night/AKBAL trecena.

9 Monkey/CHUEN (Cherokee, 9 Raccoon/KVH’LI)

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. A completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.

Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.

Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoon is full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.

By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources. UPDATE ON A LIFE DREAM:

On 4 Sun/AHAU I was able to make the reservations for the trip to celebrate Ian Lungold’s Mayan birthday, 12 Sun/AHAU, on the observance of the Day of the Dead. It felt important to the information I would share in my book. I’m grateful to be part of such a flow of Love, more necessary that money, for the realization of my dream. You are already the blessing of just being here. (But you could help me spread the word.) much love, in lak’ech, Debra https://www.gofundme.com/life-dream-a-pilgrimage-of-spirit

I received my new passport! My Leap of Faith to buy the ticket before receiving it paid off. 🙂 The reality is starting to set in. I’m excited to carry you with me. I know what a healing it will be to see I’m just as capable as I have always been to charge off into the unknown for the experience. (Monkey must be talking.) I couldn’t be doing this without you.
