Eta Aquarid meteor shower 2023 peaking now! See pieces of Halley’s Comet in the night sky
By Robert Lea published 1 day ago
This annual meteor shower is created by debris left by Halley’s comet as it makes its roughly 76-year orbit of the sun.
The annual Eta Aquarids meteor shower peaks on Friday (May 5) and Saturday (May 6), offering skywatchers the opportunity to see debris from Halley’s Comet as it enters Earth’s atmosphere at incredible speeds and burns up.
This year the meteor shower began lighting up the night sky over Earth on April 19 and will last until May 28, so even after its peak there will be plenty of opportunity to catch fireballs streaking through the sky.
At its peak, the Eta Aquarid meteor shower has a rate of around 55 meteorites per hour, but this rate is calculated assuming perfect viewing conditions such as completely dark skies and ideal weather. This means skywatchers should realistically expect to see fewer Eta Aquarids meteors than this.
According to In the Sky(opens in new tab), from New York City the Eta Aquarid meteor shower becomes visible each morning at around 2:32 a.m. EDT (0632 GMT) with it remaining active until around the break of dawn at 5:16 a.m. EDT (0916 GMT). Article continued on Space.com
Comets: Which way are they going? (All eyes trained on the Sun)
Interestingly, you don’t determine which way Halley’s comet is going by the direction of it’s tail. It’s face always points to the Sun! As it approaches the Sun the tail follows. When it “turns the corner” to move away, the tail “leads” a backwards retreat. 🙂

A CME JUST HIT EARTH: Unexpectedly, a CME hit Earth’s magnetic field today, May 6th, at around 01:00 UT. The impact sparked a G2-class geomagnetic storm with auroras visible in Canada and at least two northern-tier US states despite the glare of a full Moon. The storm is subsiding now, but it could re-energize as Earth passes through the CME’s strongly magnetized wake. Aurora alerts: SMS Text.
THE NEXT CME IS ON THE WAY: A three-day outburst of M-class solar flares on May 3rd, 4th and 5th, hurled so many CMEs into space that analysts had trouble sorting them out. NOAA has determined that at least one is heading for Earth.

9 Star/LAMAT (Cherokee, Rabbit/NOQUI’SEGWA)
Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of the getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. The completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.
Star/LAMAT: Star energy is multiplication of all things to abundance. Star has been associated with the fertility of rabbits for its ability to multiply. As each sun in the sky, Star persons shine equally in all directions. This natural tendency of harmony and balance can become compulsion, motivating Star to be too agreeable and too generous, rejected gifts cause fear and resentment. When a Star believes it has been given too much, they are weakened or may even collapse. In this “Black Hole” state, Stars are prone to verbal jousting and arguing to force their point of view on everyone.
Cherokee, Rabbit/NOQUI’SEGWA: Symbol-Venus, The Morning Star cycle of 260 days and Evening Star cycle of another 260 days, inspired the 13 numbers, 20 Day sign Sacred Calendar. Rabbit is the Trickster of Cherokee culture, matching the Coyote in other nations. The personification of Light and New Life, Sunrise, the scion of the Moon-Father of earth children, the Rabbit is fertility, be fruitful and multiply. Represents softness, gentleness and vulnerability. LAMAT– Totem Rabbit. Energies of re-birth, regeneration, ripening, harvest and abundance. This person is overflowing with love energy in all areas of life. Spiritual growth is natural and with ease due to the unconditional love energy that flows.
