SPACEWEATHER: Disintegrating Comet (?) and Growing Sunspot

Growing Signs of Light

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 01/20/2025

DID COMET ATLAS JUST DISINTEGRATE? We have some good news and some bad news. First the good news: Comet ATLAS (C/2024 G3) has just emerged into the evening sky of the southern hemisphere–and it is a beauty. “I do not think I have seen a comet as beautiful as this one since Hale-Bopp in 1997,” says Daniel Mello, who sends this Jan. 19th selfie from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: (above)

“Comet ATLAS is surprising everyone in the southern hemisphere,” says Mello.

Indeed, photos are pouring in from many locations south of the equator. “It is was clearly visible to the naked eye,” says Andres Molina of Bogota, Colombia. “This is one of the most incredible photos (below) I have ever taken in my journey as an astrophotographer!” adds Gabriel Zaparolli of Jaquirana, Brazil.

Now for the bad news: The comet may be disintegrating. This sequence of photos from Hungarian astronomer Lionel Majzik, using a telescope in Chile, shows a troubling change. A bright streamer has appeared inside the comet’s atmosphere, and the head is no longer the brightest object in the photo:

“Headless Wonder”

Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) Taken by Lionel Majzik on January 18, 19, 20, 2025 @ Río Hurtado, Chile

Only one week ago, Comet ATLAS passed very close to the sun (0.09 AU), deep inside the orbit of Mercury. The thermal stress may have been too much. Famously, a similar disintegration happened to Comet Lovejoy (C/2011 W3) after its close approach to the sun in Dec. 2011. Comet Lovejoy appeared to lose its nucleus (“the head”) while still maintaining a visible tail. The streamer bifurcating Comet ATLAS’s tail is evidence of a similar event. If so, it too could become a “headless wonder” in the nights ahead. Stay tuned!

A BIG SUNSPOT IS FACING EARTH: Sunspot 3961 is one of the largest sunspots of Solar Cycle 25. After days of impressive growth, it is now directly facing Earth with a ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares. A geoeffective explosion may be in the offing.

Brilliant Comets in History

The Great Comet of 1882, also known as C/1882 R1, is considered by some to be the brightest comet ever recorded. (Space.com “The 9 most brilliant comets ever seen”)

Mayan Time and the Signs Above

The trecena of Seed/KAN relates to the Divine Design written within the Seed of Life. 10 Reed/BEN represents the manifestation (Tone 10) of Light as the channel of Spiritual Communion. Reed/BEN is the “Guiding Light” for home and family, illustrated as 2 channels of Light shining on an altar. Tomorrow is 11 Jaguar/IX, the Day sign of Spirit; Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI is symbolized by comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, and magicians.

Comets shine their brightest after perihelion, their closest pass around the Sun… surviving by God’s Grace. In today’s case, it appears Comet G3 ATLAS may become a “headless wonder” overtaken by the Sun’s Fire and Light on the Day of 10 Reed/BEN’s manifestation of the “Guiding Light.” Perhaps the Sun will put on the bigger show tomorrow, on 11 Jaguar/IX, the Higher Illumination of the Heavenly Light of the Holy Spirit.

Truth is brought to Light, After it’s illuminated by the Sun. Debra

TRECENA OF SEED/KAN: THE FACTS OF LIFE

My gift for the Tzolk’in round is the “Tzolk’in Field Guide: A Daily Practice for Personal Discernment.” Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in round. The “Field Guide” is available to download from a link on the 13-day Trecena Guide Page.

Tracking your thoughts during one 13-day trecena, you will see the synchronicity of Time, and an ascension as the answer to a prayer you hold as an Intention of thought from the beginning.

The Seed/KAN trecena is the beginning of Season 3, found in Volume 2.

Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation. What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility.

Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peace, harmony and order to all o their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a lot of appreciation, may have marriage or business problems because of inflexible vies and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson for Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe. Bless or repair your house.

A GOOD DAY TO: Bless and repair your house. (And a day to love your neighbors as your self.)

Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini.  Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind.  A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.
