MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

6 Reed / BEN
Greetings Kin,
Today is the Final Day of Spiritual Growth in the 260-day round of the Tzolk’in.
Tone 6 calls us into a Rhythm and Flow of Movement. The energy of Number 6 is compared to a great athlete. It represents the engagement of all our resources. All the steps we practiced are drawn into an Expression of Movement that naturally follows its own course.
We have been in training to provide a Divine Service to the Whole. By continuing to turn to our Highest Thoughts, being of Service can be central to every choice we make as a movement of Second Nature. We can automatically take the needs of others into consideration as our way of moving in the world.
This simple act of Compassionate Love can change our lives more than we can imagine. Human likes to believe that this is what we are doing, when in fact these are the “highlights” of Human Being. It takes a “hard look” and an honest assessment of our own Consciousness to realize how much this frame of thought is an exception to our natural Human Instincts. We have had to be Consciousness just to manifest these random acts of Kindness. They are not the “rule” but our Human “exceptions.” If we look honestly, we can see how inadequately and sporadically we actually carry out this Intention.
Reed/BEN is the Day Sign that reflects Family and Home. The well-being of the children of our next generation is important to Reed. Reed carries our Mission beyond the Humans we serve in our own lifetime, to make a way for the Future of Humanity.
Reed/BEN reminds us that we are ALL the firstborn children of the Creator, and that each one was promised the Divine Justice of being the “first in line.” The Creator saw to the future of every generation. In an equal and opposite way the Creator closed the generation gap. So would the children of the future provide a Divine Service back to us. For all time, we would all be seen as the Creator’s children, the same way that Human parents never forget the first relationship of Service we provided to our own children.
When I was a parent, I was too close to the forest to see the trees. It seemed like a very long journey at the beginning and middle. But, in the end, it all passed so quickly. Something about it will always feel “undone.” If I’d known how fast it would all go by, I could have given more. It was the experience of time going by so slowly that generated a false truth that it could go on forever.
Human knows we’re going to fail sooner than later. To do it perfectly, the more failed attempts we’d have to bear, and the more we would know our own limited capacity for Unconditional Love. It’s especially hard to face when the failure becomes an injustice to the small ones for whom we hold the Greatest Compassionate Love.
Reed/BEN offers some advice on raising children. Though Reed is said to hold the Highest Ideals, it’s guided to lead with a “garden hose” instead of a “steel pipe.” One can bend. Reed/BEN guides us to lead by example. Children will learn what they see their parents doing. They are very conscious of the words that don’t line up with the authentic way of being. They will also say exactly what’s on their mind. We can learn as much from them as they learn from us.
Through Reed/BEN our last movement of Intention and the last Gift we will share as our own generation passes away, is an Example of Humility. Reed/BEN is the Sign of an altar. The glyph illustrates an altar as the horizontal line. Above are the channels of the Creator’s Light shining there. Below are the crosshatched mats where Human kneels in Humility in Communion with the Creator. Through our example, we can show the next generation how to forge a Divine Relationship between the Above and the Below. This is the most important example we can offer to Serve the next generation.
The only way to Know a Divine Creator of Unconditional Love is to approach in Humility at the wonder of this Gift. In Humility, we acknowledge the Divinity of Unconditional Love – it is not a Human Construct or Instinct. In every attempt, Human will fail to pull it off. Reed embodies this Consciousness that Unconditional Love can only be a Divine thing, beyond Human’s own Power.
The only way to be a Channel of this Love for others is to admit defeat in the beginning. The Elders call this an effort to be the “hollow bone.” Knowing Human is never the Author of Unconditional Love, the only way to keep this channel wholly open is by removing flesh from the bone. The “hollow bone” is a channel free of the expectations of the Ego, and free of any personal pride we might hold in being used in such a Divine Way. Only on our Knees in Humility would we be capable to draw down the Full Light of the Creator through a “hollow reed.”
This is the Very Blessing of Unconditional Love that offers the Freedom to Be. Knowing we will always fail, we can forget our own “rigid rules” that define what we “should do” to demonstrate our Unconditional Love. There is no Human experience or resource of Consciousness by which Human can perfectly pull this off. Unconditional Love can only be authored by the Creator. Since it goes against all our Human Instincts, we’d have to admit we don’t know how to Love Unconditionally.
Our words of Love don’t matter if they aren’t followed-up by a living illustration. In Humility, admitting our failure, we demonstrate the “effect of Unconditional Love” on us. We would demonstrate that Unconditional Love could always be seen as the Hand of the Creator working through Human.
We are inclined to carry our own “steel pipe” and use it on our Self, though we are God’s children too. Somehow we have to Love our Self in this broken state of being. We have to define our Value and Worth by the Light that we are Loved by a Supreme Creator. We have to see the value of being broken.
The Creator wants Unconditional Love to be Seen and Acknowledged by the Whole. That was the Meaning and Purpose of our own Creation, to be the eyes and ears and thoughts of Love in the world. Through our own experience of Unconditional Love, shared through a Divine Relationship, we fulfill the Dream of a Creator to dynamically experience its own identity as the All-in-One Divine Source of Eternal Love. We reflect back to the Creator it’s own full light, when we claim the Light is not our own.
Through this Gift we are Free to Fail. In every failure we would see we are Loved Unconditionally. We could even come to see our failure as the next opportunity to experience Unconditional Love. The failures that guarantee the experience are the failures of Divine Intention. The Divine Gift of Unconditional Love is the return for seeing where we’ve failed to Love, broken by the Love we failed to give. Only then can we recognize the Truth that we Intended but failed.
The Human ego is so sure it knows everything. Convinced that if we try hard enough, we will always find some way to succeed, it’s a blow to our ego whenever we have to admit defeat. Yet this admission is the open door to Unconditional Love.
I’m convinced that no matter how much you love your children, someday you will know their disappointment in your failures. We can honestly look at our Self to see how, in defining our Self, we compared ourselves to the ones who raised us, and imagined how much better we would be. As well as demonstrating Love, our Human parents demonstrate all the things we would choose to do a different way. A friend once shared the concept that this is Biblical, the way things have always been down through time. Though we can justify our own differences with our own parents, it seems impossible to justify in our own children, because we know how much we Love them.
With both of my children in their own time we’ve come to a breaking point. Both of my children have lashed out in disrespect of all the effort of Love I invested in the process. It was a final break with me that ignored 20 some years of personal sacrifice and service, each one assuming the worst intentions. The remarks were unforgivable. To agree, I’d have to claim that the sum of all my mistakes was far greater than the Love I tried so hard to demonstrate. My mind immediately turned back to everything beautiful I’d given, Gifts given by Intention because I couldn’t see that my parents had given them to me. I intended to give more Love than my own parents gave to me.
We need each other in so many ways. It’s easier to see Love through more than one perspective. That’s the gift of the Tzolk’in, a path that leads us to look at things from many different directions and perspectives of Being. I needed a friend to tell me what they saw was a generational issue and not a personal one. I was told that this is what it is all about to step into the shoes of Divine Service as the Family Elder. In the face of injustice, we must demonstrate that with Wisdom and Consciousness we gained the inner strength to take the Higher Road.
It wasn’t easy. With each of them, I’d have to admit complete defeat to win. I needed for someone else to See and Acknowledge my Truth to even carry it out. It felt like the threshold of life or death to a lifelong relationship. The only way to mend the ties that bind us together was to say I’m sorry for all the mistakes I’ve made and seek their forgiveness and understanding in the failure to demonstrate how much I really loved them. Then I had to move on with my own life, leaving the Masterpiece of Divine Justice unfinished in the Creator’s hands. One relationship has been fully restored. There is still Time to bear to see the Miracle happen in the other.
We might recognize how much we want our Love to be Seen and Acknowledged, especially Human Love that was given the best we know how by Intention. We can Know that the Creator holds the strength of Love that can never be broken by being forgotten. How long did it take to notice that all the Beauty around us was given as a Gift of Unconditional Love? How many times have we thought that “what is happening to us” wouldn’t be allowed by a Loving Creator. How many times did we think that all the things we wanted, yet couldn’t manifest in our lives, might have been held back on Divine Purpose? How many times did we See and Acknowledge the injustice of our Life? And, how many times did we only see the Blessing?
The hardest thing Human can do is to Humble our Self. How often can we say “I’m sorry” without giving the reason for failure. We try to soften the blow to our Ego by defending our lack of Love. We can come up with a million reasons why we fail to serve each other. We were too busy. We were experiencing a “hard time.” We were preoccupied with making ends meet. Or, we just forgot what we promised to do.
We all need a Savior, one willing to bear all the failures of humanity. Our own Salvation of Divine Justice means that a price must be paid for the injustice in the world. We all look to someone else, because we can’t see how we would ever be able to pull it off. God made a way.
Even in this Highest Climb of Love, I’ve felt lost, like I don’t know what I’m doing, what I’m supposed to be thinking, or how, exactly, I’m meant to carry out this Intention of Unconditional Love. What can I do as a Human that would demonstrate my own Intention of Unconditional Love. Humbling our Self before the Creator, we can claim the Truth that we don’t know what we’re doing. In spite of our best effort, we are inflicting injustice on one another in ways we can’t even see.
The only way to give our Children the Unconditional Love we intended for them to experience is to lead them to the altar. In Humility, we can point them to the Highest Example. We can show them how they can always believe in the Promise of the Creator’s Unconditional Love. In Humility, we can share the Truth that all the Love that was seen in us was only a Spark compared to the Creator’s Love. We can demonstrate that the next experience of Unconditional Love is as near as the next Human failure to Love that brings us to our Knees in Humility.
All our gifts of Spiritual Strength have been drawn together to make the Highest Climb of our Spirit. Our Highest Climb is the one that brings us to our Knees in Humility of a Higher Love. In total surrender of all our expectations, our Human Love can die… ceasing to be the Love we automatically reach for. A new generation can reach beyond Human love.
We were born with the purpose to carry a Divine Spark of Love, a Spark that we would always identify with Divinity. Sharing it is the only way to see that Human is connected to Divinity. We share Eternal Love when we claim the Love that could be Seen in us was not a gift of our own making, but a gift from the Creator. We can admit our Love is broken example of Unconditional Love.
To all my relations, may we be willing to admit our failures of Love. May our Humility prove that we saw a Higher Love too. May we Honor the feelings of our children. May we recognize that their disappointment in us, is the sign that they are also Conscious of a Higher Love… and that this is the evidence of our Dream for them coming true. May we remember how the Consciousness of Unconditional Love holds the Power to Heal us all and by seeing this Higher Love we can Believe that Divine Love will draw us all back into Unity. In Humility, may we celebrate the Breakthrough of Knowing the Highest Example of Love. May we forget our self and our own need to be Seen. May we shape-shift into our own Jaguar Spirit to hide in the shadows, waiting to witness all the Miracles that will be manifested by our Children’s Consciousness of Unconditional Love. May we know our Divine Intention to Love is Eternal, and through the Consciousness of Unconditional Love, someday our children will see the best we could do was to hold the Intention.
May we ask that our hearts be changed by the Creator, so that our happiness doesn’t depend on being the One who gets credit for giving the most love. May we believe in the Divine Justice that one day we will be Honored as the Human who Most Wanted to Give Love.
May we sacrifice our self to the Flow of Divine Love, that leaves the Sacred Exchange in the Hands of the Creator. May we believe there is a Divine Time and Place where our Intention is meant to be Seen and Acknowledged. May we wait in silence, in Understanding for all of Humanity. May we Believe that in Seeing and Acknowledging a Human failure, our Humility will demonstrate our own Belief in the Power of the Creator’s Love to heal everything.
May we pay forward the blessing and forgive our own parents for not knowing what they were doing, even as they were Intending to prove their Human Love. May we ask to be forgiven for the time they waited for us to see that Love was an Intention, even when they failed to carry it out.
in lak’ech, i am another you

6 Reed/BEN (Cherokee, Reed I’hya)
Galactic Tone 6: Six is responsiveness and the art of negotiation. It is the movement of volume through space that creates time. This energy in action is like the art of dance or a great athlete in motion. Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.
Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeaver to bring peace, harmony, and order to all of their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a log of appreciation, many have a marriage or business problems because of inflexible views and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson of Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe.
Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini. Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind. A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.
