2 Deer / MANIK – Journey of Change

MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

2 Deer/MANIK

Greetings Kin,

Tone 2 of Duality presents us with choices and the consideration of a new Sacred Intention. The Trecena of Change would motivate us to find something solid to hold on to.

Deer/MANIK is the Day Sign of Spiritual Tools. Deer’s most important guidance for Tone 2 would be to stand still. As we journey through the chaos of change we may feel an urge to take action to resolve our immediate discomfort. Though, our most important work of today is to discern a plan for decisive and purposeful movement.

Deer/MANIK offers the Hand of Divine Agency. As the Day Sign that represents the Mayan Priest, MANIK would draw our awareness to a Constant and Unmovable Foundation of Love and Guidance. The glyph illustrates a hand with the forefinger and thumb grasping a line that completes the circuit to our Source of Spiritual Power.

Deer’s most powerful Spiritual Tool is the act of Vigilance. Deer stands silently in its own power as it is capable to survey the landscape in all four directions. Deer’s movements are calculated. Following the example of Deer, we are guided to move decisively and with purpose.

As a Day Sign of the West, our thoughts are drawn by the Direction of the “hard road of life.” The Intentions we consider are likely to be centered on how we would make our way in the world. As a Blue Day Sign, Deer calls our Emotions to the surface so we may discover the Fear that would hold us back. Our feelings hold the purpose of revealing our illusions of limitation. For every weakness we have the courage to face, Deer/MANIK has the Spiritual Tool to overcome.

Deer/MANIK call us to rely on Divine Guidance. We are called to align ourselves with a Divine Intention. Through the humility of a surrender, we allow the Creator to guide us toward an Intention of Divine Priority, versus a plan conceived by our ego. Seeking Divine Guidance to measure one step at a time, we will be empowered to lean into the winds of change, instead of falling back to unstable footing.

To all my relations, may we be released from our Fear of the Future, Knowing that the Creator has already planned for our arrival there. May we acknowledge an Almighty Presence so Loving that our every weakness will be compensated by a Divine Source of Power. As we bend our Will to serve a Sacred Intention, each experience is a Sacred Step on the path to a Divine Destination.

2 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)

Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.

Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.

Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions.  Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer:  A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician.  Ability to create harmonic resonance.
