9 Flint / ETZNAB – Mission of Love: Day 9 of 13

MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

9 Flint / ETZNAB

Greetings Kin,

Flint Beams the Stellar Ray of Truth to Earth as a crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning flash… bringing things to a head to wipe the slate clean.”

Flint/ETZNAB always holds the potential for a Revelatory Experience. Flint can reveal the “truth” about our Self we are afraid to see.

The Flint Knife was the sacred object used to cut to the heart. Flint cuts through an illusion that stands in the way of our experience of Unconditional Love. ETZNAB is also known as the Mirror, symbolizing the Obsidian Mirror that returns a perfect reflection of hidden truth.

Tone 9 holds the intention of seeing something clearly. Tone 9 calls for our patience to look deeper into our own understanding. To clearly see the Truth of the Creator’s Love, we need to uncover the hidden influences of our perception. Flint is known for it’s ability to draw Light to our Illusions and the Negative Influences we’ve covered up.

Flint delivers truth like a flash of intelligence. Something we’ve failed to recognize can become crystal clear. There are few Flint days that don’t leave a memorable impression. Under the Peak Tone 9 of Transformation, we can expect a Truth that increases our Faith in Unconditional Love.

Flint/ETZNAB is said to be a Day Sign that presents us with a temptation to “act out of character.” On Flint we are inclined to say what we REALLY think, and do what we’d REALLY like to do… truth we are otherwise afraid to admit. Flint comes with a warning to expect the unexpected from ourselves and others around us. It’s a day to be careful on the road and give wide-berth to others.

Flint is a gift of Love we don’t expect to receive. It’s easy to think our shortcomings make us unworthy of Love. It’s the reason we avoid sharing all of who we are. Flint’s knife reaches to the heart of a matter that makes us feel unworthy of love.

One of my best understandings of Flint came through an experience with my cat, Shadow. I adopted her from the shelter after the loss of two cats that had been with me for 17 years.  After witnessing their ends, I wanted my next cat to be young and healthy. Interestingly, I was dealing with my own age and the illusion of diminishing value.

Shadow was in the first cage on my tour of the shelter. Her “rap sheet” recorded a history of being passed around. She was 12, had a heart murmur, and abandoned due to litter box issues. I quickly moved on. Then I discovered the average stay was 1 month. Shadow had been confined to her cage for 3. It was clear she was unwanted and I was drawn to give her a home for Christmas in 2015.

I was surprised to find she still had plenty of life left in her and she always went in the box. She’s the only cat I’ve known that loved every gift she was given, though she was slow to share her affection. Flint/ETZNAB was the day of her one and only “litter box failure.” She immediately tore off to hide under the bed. I sought her out to let her know she wasn’t in trouble. It was as if she Knew this was the mistake worthy of abandonment. Her fear was swept away by Unconditional Love. From that day on, she began sitting beside me on the couch and sleeping near to me at night.

It’s hard for Human to fully imagine Unconditional Love. Our closest understanding is “God’s Grace.” Unconditional Love means nothing is held against us. My “forgiveness” of Shadow wasn’t forgiveness at all. I never saw her as unworthy.  Unconditional Love means we’re worthy just as we are.

Flint/ETZNAB is a blessing of a two-edged sword. We have to face the weakness that makes us “unworthy,” to know the Truth of Unconditional Love. Flint’s Truth is intent on being known. It’s said Flint does whatever it takes to make its point. We can avoid the potential for suffering by being willingly to see our Truth.

Flint could also reveal what’s been covered up by someone else. Flint’s truth can be unsettling. It can hit home like, “I knew that!” We have to forgive to make Wise Choices, and may need to forgive ourselves for ignoring our gut instinct. If we react, we’re likely to bear the full consequences of our action.  Residing in the North, we have a direct connection to the One Ones. If we need a place to “set the record straight,” we can call on them.

To all my relations, may we be gentle with our Self and Others as we are opened to a deeper truth. May we receive Flint’s Truth as an Act of Divine Intervention and Unconditional Love. May we have the courage to be fallible, and see the Higher Truth that a Divine Agency is helping us see Truth we had trouble seeing for our Self. May we crystallize the Gut Feeling of Truth and acknowledge it as a Divine Connection. May we receive Flint’s Truth for the blessing it’s meant to be. May Flint/ETZNAB sweep away an illusion so we can open our Whole Heart. May we know the Truth of Unconditional Love that sets us free.

in lak’ech, i am another you,

9 Flint/ETZNAB (Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA)

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. A completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.

Flint/ETZNAB: Mirror of reality. As a struck flint, these persons are the divine sparks of intelligence. Flint’s innate abilities are utilized to discriminate emotions from fact. Flint persons stand tireless to protect, defend, or cure others by personal sacrifice. By courageously wielding the sword of truth, falsehoods are cut away. Flints, it was said, can receive information on inter-personal troubles or evil plots of others by reflecting in an obsidian mirror. Their valiant service as warriors of the truth must be impeccable or they will experience sufferings of accidents, misunderstandings and gossip.

Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA: Flint’s symbol is Chawa’ or Castor of the Castor and Pollux Twins in Gemini.  Castor appears in the evening personifying darkness. Pollux then appears in the east at dawn to end the night. Totem is a Flint Knife.  Flint spirit shone a light like the sun and gave the people the Sacred Venus Calendar, fixed the days and promised to watch over the earthlings.  A flint person endeavors to keep that covenant.  Opener of the Way, a creator, innovator, stretches the mind to outside limits of capabilities. Changes the static to the dynamic.  Brings about change, often through separation and destruction.  Beams the Stellar Ray of Truth to Earth as a crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning flash. The transformer brings things to a head and wipes the slate clean.

By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources. Links to sources and other resources of study are offered on the Daykeeper Resources Page.
