MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Wind/IK filled us with the Breath of Life and Spirit. We were inspired to live our lives in service to a Divine Creator. On Tone 2, the day of duality, we consider how we would manifest such an accomplishment in our own way. We face our Human Nature that we must overcome, and obstacles it could present. We think about how we may be more or less up to the task, compared to someone else. We make a decision of Intention “to be or not to be.” We wonder how our own Spiritual Nature would express itself.
Night/AKBAL is the Voice of Spirit that speaks to us in our dreams. AKBAL is the Spiritual Gift of the Creator that can speak to us of our unconscious Dreams. AKBAL is the Voice of Spirit that knows us better than we know ourselves. AKBAL connects the two sides of the mind, our Intellect and our Intuition. AKBAL calls us to draw Wisdom into our Imagination.
On a Mission of Spirit our way forward lies under the Authority of a Divine Creator. All we have to do is make an Intention to be led by Spirit. Our greatest effort will be to keep an open mind and to Know that Spirit will guide each step of the way.
This morning I woke to thoughts of “what to do.” What could I do as one person to impact a world that feels out of control. Tone 2 is a day when we can often feel separated from the whole. Our Human Nature sees all the obstacles that lay before us, and imagines that our challenge may be greater than someone else. We long to be equal to everyone else.
In the physical world we are not equal. Some of us have it easier than others. Some face odds that seem insurmountable. It’s hard for our Human Nature to see our own Power of Spirit. I decided that this is one day of Intention I don’t have to figure out. The only Intention I have to make is to Listen for the Direction of Spirit. My Intention can be built around how I would choose to listen and engage with the Voice of Spirit. Our Intention can be as simple as being prepared to show up as we are guided to do.
Night/AKBAL is the Light that Shines in the Darkness. The glyph illustrates the veil drawn aside, revealing the Light that always shines. The Cherokee Day Sign, the Hearth, is the Sacred Fire that burns through the Night… a light that reaches beyond the darkness of the Unknown. This is the place of the counsel fire where the Old Ones wait for us to call. They encourage us to willingly enter the darkness of the Unknown, putting all our Faith for direction in a light that shines ahead. No matter how dark things may look, there will be a Light to follow.
AKBAL knows our unconscious fears. AKBAL knows we are lost in our Human Nature when we are afraid of the dark. By reason we could see “fear” as a place to stop and look for the Light. In fear, we lack the power to move forward in Spirit. It’s okay to wait until the way forward is clear.
We could think of the two sides of our Self as our Higher and Lower Self. Our first order of Forgiveness is to bring both sides into “right relationship.” If we look at both sides we could see how a Divine Side of our Self, would negotiate a way forward with our Lower Self. If we looked at both sides as our two different identities and personalities, we can imagine how they would work together in a Divine Relationship. We know our Lower Self will always sound a “warning bell” of fear. The Divine side of our Self, would acknowledge this as a Divine Service. Our Higher Self wouldn’t tell our Lower Self, “You’re just imagining things, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Come on!” In “right relationship” our Divine Self would first resolve the fear. Our Divine Self would wait patiently with us until we could see the light.
Our Divine Self would encourage that we weren’t meant to go forward without seeing the Light ahead. AKBAL can help us to wait and anticipate a Light that clearly shows the way. We’ll know it when we see it.
Today our work is to Listen for the Voice of Spirit that will lead us to our Dream. AKBAL is a Voice we hear in our Dreams, whether asleep or awake. It’s an important day to Listen and acknowledge a Light we will depend on. Our Leap of Faith will be waiting and believing in an Inspiration that will lead us forward. In an Intention to allow Spirit to lead us, we depend on a source that knows our doubts and insecurities. AKBAL’s Light will dispel the darkness of our sub-conscious mind. The direction it presents will heal us along the way. All we have to do is take the “Leap of Faith” to move forward under a Power Greater than our Self.
AKBAL reminds us that the Void of Darkness is the place of unlimited possibility. Just as IMIX taught us that innovation requires us to think of something we’ve never thought of before, AKBAL reminds us that we can also conceive of Answers and Solutions we’ve never thought of before. AKBAL is the Dreamer who believes in the Dream and guides us to follow our Dream… a Dream We Create in our Imagination.
As a Day Sign of the West, Akbal resides in the direction of our direct experience… our walk into the darkness of the Unknown. As the Element of Water, the West reflects our emotions, the response to our experience of the world. AKBAL’s message can speak to our Heart.
We are imagining our own Spiritual Universe and the way we would choose things to work. We are the Creators of a world’s Divine Design. One of my passing thoughts of AKBAL was, “What if, when we heard the Voice of Spirit, we didn’t just listen, but also talked back?” It brought something to the surface from my unconsciousness. From the perspective of my Mind of Reason, it sounded a little “crazy,” like “Harvey” the invisible rabbit. (“Crazy” is now starting to sound like a good thing… maybe even a “genius” thing.) I realized that in the physical world, when someone talks to be, I talk back. If I’m going to live in the realm of Spirit, I’ll want someone to talk to. If I believed in the Voice, I would talk back. In the realm of Spirit anything is possible that we can imagine.
To all my relations, may we Listen for the Voice of Spirit and know it can make its presence known. May we remember all the ways our Spiritual Gifts connect us to Divine Direction. We will know right from wrong. We will know Truth when we hear it. We will be inspired by Divine Thoughts. And, we can Know the Presence of our Divine Authority by the touch of the Wind. May we acknowledge the Gifts that can dispel what is only an illusion of powerlessness. May we see ourselves holding the Key of Forgiveness, guided by a Divine Light that will lead us to the doors that need to be opened. May we give thanks that we have all the Light we need to fulfill a Mission of Spirit. We will know when we see it, by our own courage to willingly enter the dark. May we see our Divine Intention as the Offering, “Here “I Am” Lord, send me.”

I’m grateful that we weren’t meant to walk in fear, that a Mission led by Spirit means we proceed in courage as a Divine Light shines the way. When we receive the direction of Spirit, there will be no fear.

2 Night/AKBAL (Cherokee, Hearth, O’ya)
Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.
Night/Akbal: Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurities and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled. These persons travel the Void. a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells, the womb of creation. From this void, Night persons bring forth new solutions and artistic inspiration. Night’s voyages of dreams build confidence and happiness with a sense of well being. If night does not bravely journey into the void they may find themselves wandering the darkness of self doubt and insecurity.
Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA: Hearth’s symbol is the fire pit in the Center, velvet black as the night. The triangle in Orion. The M42 nebula (home of the Central race from the WingMakers) in the center of the triangle of Orion is the fire in the Hearth, also matching the Mayan. The Hearth is the Torchbearer who holds the light and warmth throughout the night. Belief is so strong that the surrounding elements become entrained to their rhythm and all resistance falls away. With respect and honor of intuition combined with knowledge this energy creates the magic of the center in this dimension. AKBAL-Night-Totem-OWL: Guardian of the Night Sun. Energies for the opening of mystic secrets, seeing through the masks of deception, trickery. High ability of discernment. Portals open to other worlds and dimensions for your learning and spiritual growth. Magical abilities are possible.
