MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
8 is the Number of “Pure Spirit.” A Balancing of the Above and the Below brings the return of Divine Justice. The Peak Tone 8 begins our phase of Transformation that is carried out under the direction of a Divine Agency. On Tone 7, we took inventory of our Human accomplishment and faced the Truth of our limitations. We saw how hard it is for Human to live up to our identity as a Personification of Light.
As a Seed in the process of germination, we have no Light. All our Human eyes can see is the darkness. We struggle to see what Spirit saw in our first Awakening of Consciousness. It’s hard for Human to Remember, when the ways of the world reflect an opposite image of our Self. The only way to reconcile the two is to find our way back Home.
On 8 Jaguar/IX the most spiritual of all the Day Signs will leads us into the realm of Spirit. Jaguar is the shape-shifter and shaman that is One with the Consciousness of Mother Earth. IX knows the magic that is born of Gratitude for all that Mother Earth provides. Earth is like the legend on a map that helps us discern what it all means. To know Spirit we only have to discern her equal and opposite reflection.
Jaguar/IX was hiding, waiting in the Temple for us to arrive. Today, IX can show us how Mother Earth will guide us Home.
The Jaguar’s Consciousness resides in the realm of “pure spirit.” IX knows all and sees all through its heightened senses. Jaguar’s footsteps are often the only sign of its presence, attributed to its Knowing everything that’s going on in its parameter. IX can inspire us with the Truth of how much Beauty there is to see, how our lives would be changed by it the more Conscious we become.
IX knows the way home is Gratitude. As we become Conscious of how extensive our Blessings really are, we would never feel the pain of injustice again. Spiritual gratitude is the “magic” that the priest and shaman use to heal our Human hearts. As the shape-shifter, Jaguar is capable to lead us to a new dimension of understanding. Among the visions shared by the shaman is to take a Spirit Walk with the Jaguar through a Divine Portal that leads East, toward the direction of our Divine Inspiration. Jaguar leads a magical mystery tour through the invisible realm of Beauty.
Tone 8 holds the Intention of Divine Justice. This is a day when we will be changed by the Truth of Unconditional Love. We’ve already completed our Human effort of Spiritual Growth. Jaguar reveals how our meager effort took us further than we could see. We are changed as we see the Truth of a Sacred Exchange.
The Deer/MANIK trecena guides us to sacrifice our self to a Higher Purpose. As the priest and leader of community, MANIK helps us to stand in the Truth of what we can remember. The One most important Truth is the presence of the Creator’s Unconditional Love. A Supreme Lord with the power to create everything was motivated by a Divine Purpose. The Creator’s purpose was a Universe of Love that was conscious of itself. Human would have to learn to see this Love. Beauty is the Earthly Expression of God’s Love that allows Human to see the Invisible.
What is beautiful? “Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder.” Beauty is a measurement of perspective. Our perception of Beauty is as different as we are. We can imagine things that are beautiful to us that would never catch the eye of someone else.
My full-time employment serves the industries that rely on bulk gases. We sell the elements of Earth, oxygen, nitrogen, helium, argon, and hydrogen, to name a few. Among our most beautiful assets are our compressed gas cylinders. The beauty of our tanks is a major feature we sell to users in the medical industry. Their beauty symbolizes the integrity and care that goes into their production and the purity of the product they hold. I’ve pondered how strange it is that these things have become such things of beauty to me.
Mother Earth was the thing of Beauty that was given to Human by the Creator. We could look to her from the macro to the micro and find Beauty in everything. Beauty is an ethereal perception that engages our Spirit to create a Human experience of Unconditional Love. We love Beauty for simply Being. Beauty interrupts our mind of Reason, as it captures us in the moment. Beauty awakens our Consciousness. We could reason why by the Truth that Art in all its forms is an Expression of the Spirit’s Consciousness. We respond in Consciousness to the Expression of Love.
Jaguar/IX is the nahaul that hears the Heartbeat of Mother Earth. IX Knows the Love she expresses through all her Beauty. Walking in the dimension of Spirit, her Beauty is the sound of a Beating Heart.
IX can guide us through a magical dimension where nothing is as it seems in the world. On Earth our senses are broken apart by function. In Spirit all our Senses are as One. Our Consciousness can connect them in a discernible way.
Mother Earth shares Beauty that engages all our senses at once, both our Human and Spiritual senses. The closer we draw to Mother Earth, the more we will discern the Heartbeat of the Love she expresses. The smell of her is a healing aromatherapy. Connected directly to her, she grounds us in a sense of well-being. She is the womb of every Human expression of Beauty. When Her creations of Beauty inspire our creation of Beauty, our hearts beat together.
Jaguar/IX moves in stealth as the Essence of Beauty. In Spirit we hold the Beauty of Invisibility. The Jaguar never sees itself. It only sees the Jaguar as a moving reflection on the water’s surface. Jaguar sees itself in another dimension. The perception of Beauty lies in another dimension, yet Human can see it.
When our eyes are trained on the Beauty of the Earth, the Creator sees the Beauty of our Consciousness of one another.
8 Jaguar/IX begins the Transformation that will change our perception of Beauty. Our perception of Beauty can be transformed into a Human perception of the Creator’s Love in every direction. Through Jaguar’s gift of Gratitude, we are transformed to stand in the Truth of Love. Under the guidance of Deer/MANIK we are inspired to Serve Love by Vigilant Observation of the Beauty around us. Observing Beauty and drawing others to see Beauty, will leave the footprints for others to follow. Serving as the priest, we are meant to be invisible so we would lead others to the unobstructed view of the Creator’s Love.
As a day of “pure spirit” Just as Mother Earth presents Beauty in an unlimited number of ways, so were we all made different to create unlimited expressions of Beauty. Monkey taught us to see the Beauty in Everything. From the Raccoon, we learned that all things look shiny and beautiful when we clean them up with a little bit of water. Through Consciousness we see beyond the surface to find the Beauty of our own perception.
From the realm of Spirit our perceptions are fluid and changeable. We can stir the waters up to return a different reflection. Our way home, our way to shape-shift into the dimension of Spirit, is as easy as training our eyes on the Beauty of Mother Earth. The path of “magic” to the other side is in the Appreciation of everything we see.
This is a Holy Day for a Sacred Offering. IX represents the “heart of the planet, the female reproductive system, and the face of a Jaguar that points East on the world map.” East is the Direction of our Divine Inspiration, the direction of our path Home. May we bring an Offering to Mother Earth. May we work our magic like the Raccoon and the Monkey, bringing something we perceive as Beautiful. We can plant it in Mother Earth to create a Sacred Site that marks a Time and Place of our Consciousness of Her Beauty and the Gift of Love in Everything that was Given by the Creator. Like the Jaguar, we can guard our Beautiful place in stealth as a site that marks the way to the realm of Spirit.
May we walk the path of Saho’ni, the Black Panther of the Cherokee, invisible in the world of Darkness. May we journey into Spirit to observe our Heart-Response to Beauty. Our Gratitude for the experience will leave tracks of Light behind to illuminate the way to Spirit.
To all my relations, may we be transformed by our journey on Mother Earth. As we take in the beauty of all her details, may we see each one as a message of Love from the Creator. May we see how perfectly Earth was created to express Beauty in Every Thing. May we be inspired to Create our own Beauty, by the Beauty that most captures our own attention. May we see the worthiness of our Art in every form. May we acknowledge the Beauty in One Another as the substance of all our Dreams, which express the unlimited number of things Human can see and perceive as beautiful. May we see the Expression of Love that is manifested in a Creation of Beauty. May we be transformed by Earth’s Song of Beauty, twirling in Rhythm with the Stars, and singing in Harmony with the One Song of the Uni-Verse.
As we walk through a new Spring, when the Beauty of the Flowers call our attention, may we hear them saying, “Thank you for seeing my Beauty. I Love You Too.”
in lak’ech, i am another you

8 Jaguar/IX (Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI)
Galactic Tone 8: Justice. Harmony and balance are the intent of Eight. Eights carefully weigh all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement, “As above, so below”. From simplicity to infinity, the energy of Eight organizes all levels of creation. Some Eights are “Neat Freaks”.
Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength or character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealthful, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.
Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI: Panther is symbolized by comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, and magicians. Meteors appearing around the middle of November are Heralds of the Coming of the Light, the Cherokee New Year. Panther is the Shadow of the Sphinx, Herald of the Dawn, guardian of the night when the sun is traveling through the underworld. Panthers have unlimited imaginations, visualizations, and are spellbinding speakers. The Cherokee Totem Jaguar is the guardian of the portals to other dimensions; shamanic abilities will open; multi-dimensional magic; healer, leader, way shower energy when used for spiritual growth. Abuse would be for using this power for control or negative purposes; must find a powerful balance. Ix: The Kab’awil represents the heart of the planet, the female reproductive tract, the face of a jaguar and points east on the world map. Ix: woman, tiger. Conducive to pray for grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters and wives day. For wisdom at 4 Balances, cunning and protection of Mother Nature. To thank the Earth for sustenance. Ix is the native cunning, enterprising, vigorous, bold and realistic.
