MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Tone 4 brings the energy to stabilize our climb of new Spiritual Growth. Tone 4 sets the rules, orientation and parameters, like the rules of a game. Tone 4 offers the foundation from which we can establish a course of movement.
Earth/CABAN is the Day Sign of Movement. As a symbol of Mother Earth our awareness is drawn to her Balance maintained through a Rhythm and Flow of perpetual movement.
The Jaguar/IX trecena is guiding us to follow a direction led by Spirit, relying on Truth and Wisdom we can Know by a Divine Discernment. Jaguar/IX remember that Mother Earth is the source of every blessing. Everything we need to know we can learn through Mother Earth.
Mother Earth is a dynamic illustration of The Creation, everything that exists in the Above and the Below. Everything in the world we would hope to discover is illustrated by Her. What we can’t see in the macro, we can discover in the micro. If we look deep enough or high enough, we’ll always discover a foundational Truth of Wisdom.
The Aztec Day Sign, Ollin (Ah- len) simply means “movement.” Ollin is said to be an auspicious day for the “active principle” and a bad day for the “passive principle.” Ollin is derived from “yollotl,” meaning heart, and “yolistli,” meaning life. Ollin means to move and act now with all your heart.
“When an earthquake or great storm shook the earth, the ancient Aztecs described such power with a single word: Ollin.” Ollin meant it was an auspiscious time to invest an “all-in” effort of movement. Ollin is recognized as a day of the purified heart, signifying those moments where human beings may perceive what they are becoming. Aztec Calendar
Arriving like an earthquake, we are motivated to Move to Maintain our Balance and to create the Momentum of Direction and Progress. A body in motion tends to stay in motion.
CABAN lies in the East the Direction of Light and Inspiration. CABAN can inspire our movement from darkness to Light. Holding the Element of Fire, CABAN holds the Power to Change things by transmuting them from one state to another. Fire is the Life Force that has no substance or matter, yet holds the Power to change everything. If you want to see people move with all their heart, just yell the word “Fire.” 🙂
The Cherokee Heron is a nahaul of perpetual motion, living it’s life as a migration. Heron is always looking for the next “land of opportunity.” The Heron is a symbol of the Phoenix that rises from the ashes of its past. The choices we make from the Heart will direct the course of our life in a Divine Direction.
We could look at the Divine Movement of Mother Earth to see that every movement has a Meaning and Purpose. She could rotate perpetually in a circle, but only leaning to and fro would each place have its own Seasons of dark and light. A provision was made so that every part of Mother Earth could exist in the Light. Only through this pattern and rhythm, could she maintain the Creator’s Intention of Harmony and Equity. Through her we could see the stability maintained for us by Divine Design.
Through Mother Earth we could reason there will be seasons in our own life, and that each is meant to serve a very important meaning and purpose. We can expect the ebb and flow of our own energy.
I remember first becoming aware of this pattern in my 30’s. There were times when it was hard to make progress. Like an inertia, I didn’t feel a sense of direction. I was fearful and unable to motivate myself. Than other times it seemed like a wave of forward movement would sweep me along. I remember waiting on the next wave and planning in advance how I would move when that wave came in. I would plan to ride it for all that it was worth.
I still believe in “the wave.” It allows me to go with the flow when I feel a total lack of motivation. I can turn to this for a Divine Discernment that when it is time to move, Spirit will direct my course. I Know this Wave that comes in, that with very little effort at all, sets its own course of action. I find myself suddenly doing things I’ve put off in record time. It Feel like rising from the ashes of the past, with a new natural enthusiasm for life and movement.
It’s interesting how we can judge our Self based on our engagement of movement. We expect our Self to always be moving at peak performance. Assuming this IS the Truth (it would make sense), then our Peak Performance would have its own ebb and flow. There is a Divine Purpose for all the different ways we move. (We wouldn’t have to look too deep into Mother Earth, to see we are moving all the time.) Some movements are more obvious. Though, we can see how slight movements, like leaning on an axis, are foundational to Major Changes on Earth as different as Winter and Spring.
We are moving through the germination phase of our Spiritual Growth. The Seed of our New Self is planted on Mother Earth. We’ve been inspired to make a journey on Faith, believing in the Provision that will draw us toward the Light. We might consider how Mother Earth fulfills this promise through her natural pattern of movement.
We are learning that darkness and an inability to see which way we’re going isn’t a sign to stop, but to keep moving and believing in a new light that will appear ahead. Even when it seems like we’ve made little progress, our Intention to keep moving IS creating the momentum of forward movement. Our Cause WILL have an effect.
This morning I woke thinking about all the mysteries of life that can be resolved through our study of Mother Earth. I think of inventors like Tesla who discovered that energy can be pulled from thin air. Years ago I was fascinated by fractals, learning how even the grains of sand on the shore fall in a pattern, like mountains fall in a pattern, like the stock market falls in the same pattern (influenced by emotional ups and downs). Why do some plants grow in Fibonacci spirals and others don’t? Why do some spiders spin orbital webs in geometric circles, but others don’t? Why does a photon of light move differently when it’s being observed? The Gift of Mother Earth holds an endless number of mysteries and all the clues to figure them out. Human was given a place of endless Wisdom and Knowledge – enough to figure out how to fly to Mars and beyond, enough to figure out ANYTHING.
Today our Consciousness is drawn to the “force that moves things,” like Ollin is known to move the earth in an earthquake. We could relate this Force to the Heron’s instinct of migration… the “why” and the “direction” that leads Heron’s journey. There was a direction set for our journey, just as the Monarch butterflies are born knowing, and just as the Seed is born knowing. As long as we are moving, we can be guided in a direction. We can turn the wheels on a car, but we won’t change direction until we are moving.
To all my relations, may we be Conscious of the Movements of Mother Earth that are always carrying us forward to the Light. We can always find a direction when one of the options is to simply keep moving toward an Intention of Love. The Creator made a provision for our own time in the Light. As long as we keep moving we will arrive at the Light that proves we were on course all along. When we can’t see the future of our Dream, we only need to believe in the Future of Unconditional Love. Building Faith may feel like standing still, though moving in our Unknown Darkness is building our Inner Strength. Every Time and Every Movement holds a Divine Purpose of keeping The Creation in Balance.
May we not judge our movement by others who exist in their own rhythm and pattern of movement. Instead may we see the progress of others as Truth that we will also have our own Season. When we do, we’ll have already created the momentum to ride our own wave. May our plan for stability be perpetual movement, just like the smallest particles of Mother Earth are always moving. May we know that Mother Earth is moving us by a Divine Intention to always end up in the Light. We’re never “stuck” in one place as long as we’re moving forward in an Intention to Love.

4 Earth/CABAN (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)
Galactic Tone 4: Stability; the cube is most stable of all forms and establishes volume by definition of height, length, depth and breadth; 4 directions establish orientation. The energy of 4 sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, work, or relationship.
Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.
Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way.
