MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Peak Tone 9 carries the Intention of Patience to see the Bigger Picture. The completion of an understanding is all important to 9. There is said to be great suffering if we don’t look more deeply into our Self.
Monkey/CHUEN resides with Dog/OC at the center of the Tzolk’in representing the Inherent Gifts of a Divine Human Being… the Power to Love and Create.
CHUEN is the Weaver of Time and Master of the Arts who weaves the Threads of our Experience in to the Beautiful Tapestry of Life. CHUEN knows the value of Contrast and Color. Beauty is woven through threads of Dark and Light.
Monkey/CHUEN knows the Magic of Life on Earth as a Laboratory for Divine Dreams and Creations. Monkey offers the example of a Divine Creator who is Moved by Emotions, rather than Ruled by them. The Monkey Knows the Beauty of Love, and that it the most Divine Discovery, the journey would end.
Monkey is said to never finish the Masterpiece it starts. It drops everything when it sees the next shiny thing. The Dog showed us what Love was all about, reveling in the glory of everything. Monkey shows us the Meaning and Purpose of all the journeys from a Divine Perspective Above.
Monkey/CHUEN inspires a Discernment of a Divine Meaning and Purpose. 9 Monkey/CHUEN is one of the few Holy Days that is celebrated on Tone 9. This is the day of Initiation for the Mayan Priestess. Mayan Priestesses were among the guardians at Mayan Sacred Sites who served as an Oracle of Wisdom for those who made a pilgrimage. The ceremony of Initiation marks the Day to Acknowledge our own Divine Discernment and Compassionate Love.
Uxmal is a place known for the Initiation of the Mayan priestess, as the Cosmic Feminine University. Miguel Angel Vergara, Master Maya Teacher, calls Uxmal “The City of the Kindness of the Moon.”
The Elders say Uxmal holds the perfect balance of female and male energies. In Mayan sacred geometry, Uxmal structures are aligned to the sun, the moon, and the reappearance of Venus. Ix Cheel/Ixchel was honored here as the White Goddess, she of the pale face; as the Red Goddess, Lady Rainbow and Weaver Goddess; and, as the Crone, the Jaguar Goddess, the Old Moon Goddess and Grandmother.
During nights of the full moon, priestesses of Uxmal performed their rituals on the heights of the Pyramid of the Magician, merging the creative forces of the universe, honoring fertility and abundance. 9 Monkey/CHUEN completes the Sacred Feminine aspect of Compassionate Love, and the Magic of Human Creation.
9 Monkey/CHUEN celebrates Consciousness and Discernment as Divinity its Self. Monkey has the Divine Perspective of Love from its friend the Dog and the Consciousness to Know the Creator’s Dream of Creation.
Humans were Created as the Creators and Witness of Love. We were designed the explorers of Love Inherent in everything.
We ARE the Divine Human Beings when we choose to hold the Divine Lamp Aloft to all the Love in the World. We ARE when we are Conscious of Divine things. We are part of an illusion when we aren’t choosing – creating – our own Life.
A Creator wanted Time to see all of its own Creation. The Creator knew the Shadow of Love that is easily fixated, binding all things together. The plan was to separate the experiences. If we saw it all at once, Human would be fixated on beauty beyond understanding. The journey would be over. The Maya saw Human and the Road of our Journey as the Sacred Offering – to “bear the Time.”
To bear it, we were made the Lords of Our Own Divine Time. It takes Time to Believe there could be anything greater than all the things we want to experience on Mother Earth. ALL Humans have unlimited dreams of the possibilities of being alive. Mother Earth was the children’s story that we would see become True when we learned a Divine Discernment of Everything. Then, we could know the realm of our Dreams WAS a real place with all possibilities. It’s proof we see the Beauty of Mother Earth even when we take her for granted. She’s where we want to be, and be Happy.
To all my relations, may we Know The Creation was a Dream of Knowing all the possibilities of Love. May we Know that Offering our Self was an Expression of our Devotion and Love. A Supreme Creator who Knows the Highest Love would always pay it back and pay it forward. We were intended Life, Light, and Happiness on Earth as the Witness to share. We are never forgotten.
May we know that each climb is a Sacred Journey to Remembering. Love and Knowing will compound with Interest. One Blessing WILL follow another when We Choose the Journey of our Conscious thoughts to Know the Truth of Love.
in lak’ech, I am another you

9 Monkey/CHUEN (Cherokee, 9 Raccoon/KVH’LI)
Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. A completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.
Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.
Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoon is full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.

By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources.
