Greetings Beloved Kin,
Another side-trip off Route 66 is Colorado Springs, Colorado. It’s well worth the time to travel 350 miles North for the Garden of the Gods, 7 Falls, rushing waters, the smell of the pines, and other beautiful attractions from Mother Nature in the Rocky Mountains. I’m leading you the LONG way on Route 66, but that’s the best way to stop and smell the roses.

Early morning shot of the Central Garden of the Gods taken from the west side.
Back in 1859, when a surveyor named Rufus Cable first saw the towering fins of rock jutting over 300 feet into the air near Pikes Peak, he enthusiastically declared that it was “a fit place for the gods to assemble!” From this excited outburst came the name Garden of the Gods, by which we know this beautiful Colorado Springs park today.
The spires have long captured the imagination of those who have been fortunate to see them. A new exhibition at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, which runs through October 11, showcases dozens of Garden images, dating from the 19th century to the present, in mediums ranging from paintings to photographs to tapestry.

Seven Falls, Colorado Springs, CO
Seven Falls is a beautiful attraction, a small location with a store with souvenirs, ice cream, and soft drinks. (We drank Pepsi with nearly every meal back then.) It seemed bigger when I was a kid. It’s beautiful when the falls are lit up after sunset.
5 STAR ACCOMMODATIONS

The Broadmoor Hotel is a classic all-in-one vacation destination with 5-star accommodations close to Seven Falls. Amenities include fine dining and casual restaurants, a classic Spa, private movie theater, swimming pool, the Broadmoor Golf Club, and the location of the Broadmoor World Arena ice stadium.
The hotel also offers a convention center. You’re lucky if you could make it a business expense. I spent one night here as a grownup, and the service staff called me by name whenever I passed through the lobby. I didn’t stay in a fancy suite, though most rooms have a balcony with a view.

I’m getting melancholy strolling down OLD memory lane. There are a lot of end-all destinations across the United States. Now, I’ll have to rethink which is my favorite, Colorado? Or, Arizona? And there’s still Santa Monica, California at the end!
A pair of ice queens transformed the Broadmoor into a winter sports mecca, The Gazette
In 1937, Spencer Penrose watched Sonja Henie skate, and the moment altered the future of The Broadmoor forever. Henie was a worldwide celebrity and the winner of three Olympic gold medals and 10 world championships. She would later become a movie star.
Over its history, the Ice Palace (later the World Arena) served as a training center for World and Olympic champions. It served as host for hockey games, ice shows and curling events, five World Figure Skating Championships, six U.S. Figure Skating Championships and three National Sports Festivals.

Peggy Fleming in the 60’s
In the 1960s, Peggy Fleming trained at the arena Penrose built. Fleming moved to Colorado Springs and attended Cheyenne Mountain High School and Colorado College.
The Broadmoor was just a drive-through on our family vacations. We were able to peak inside the Broadmoor Arena on a trip we made in the 1960’s and Peggy Fleming was practicing on the ice! It was a really big deal when I was almost a teenager. (Now, I’m remembering when we saw “beatniks” on a drive through Aspen. At least there were signs of change. The only brown skins we saw were at the Mexican food restaurants.)
Now I’m verklempt by all the beautiful memories. I can remember the good and count the sum of my past as zero-plus. I don’t know why everything changed. On the lighter side I can leave it the way it was, before. We were a bunch of monkeys that didn’t know what we had until it was gone. A Divine Creator always leaves the beauty of Love behind.
We can create the beauty from a new beginning in another Time and Place. God is with us always on our journey of life on Mother Earth.
Thanks for sharing the trip.
love, in lak’ech,

Galactic Tone 6: Six is responsiveness and the art of negotiation. It is the movement of volume through space that creates time. This energy in action is like the art of dance or a great athlete in motion. Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.
Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.
A GOOD DAY TO: Give thanks to Mother Earth for all her gifts.
Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. The Heron is a symbol of the Phoenix.
