13 Wind/IK – Circle of Life

13 Wind/IK (Cherokee Whirlwind Agalu’ga)

13 Wind/IK

13 Wind/IK

Galactic Tone 13: Ascension; Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.

Wind/IK: Breath of spirit, breath of life. Winds embody the power of dissemination and planting of good seeds or ideas. They are dreamers and planners with powerful imaginations. Wind persons make great orators and they spread the word of spiritual inspiration as if carried by the wind. Wind is the power behind the movement of natural cycles such as weather, erosion, and cultural change. As the wind, these persons are extremely changeable and adaptable. They may appear inconsistent and fickle to others. Wind can be destructive to self and others by put on airs. When wind strut and boast, expanding on facts and accomplishments, they are building the dark clouds of trouble that may become hurricanes.

Cherokee, Whirlwind Agalu’ga: The Cherokee symbol of the whirlwind is a double spiral helix in rising smoke and related to the direction of the North. In Cherokee, the constellations are represented by 12 birds (dancers) and the 13th bird is the Whirlwind, the lead dancer.

Circle of Life

Life begins with the in-breath of Spirit and upon the final out-breath ends with the Spirit’s ascension from the body. Together, 13 (Ascension) and Wind/IK (Breath) illustrate the full circle of life.

Wind blows to capture our attention and to bring us into the present moment. Wind/IK carries the voice of our Creator. What is the first message that Great Spirit would want to share?

The first trecena to follow the Maya New Year on 8 Batz (the day of beginning) is Earth/Caban. Mother Earth is the first gift of the Creator. In every direction, we are shown the beauty of a Mother’s unconditional love that longs to sustain and nurture us. Our first and most important message from the Creator is, “You are Loved.”

Dog/OC has carried the second trecena of the New Year. Through the very representation of ‘man’s best friend’ we are shown How to love. We have been shown the places within us that resist giving love, so through our healing we may become an opened vessel. We have been reminded that the Spirits of our Ancestors live on as an ever-present source of Love and Guidance. Spirit’s prevailing message through the Dog/OC trecena is, “Love One Another.”

On Galactic Tone 13, we are now ready to take our very first steps. We stand at a new horizon having just learned how to walk, and Dog/OC has shown the way to share our Love in the new world.

To all my relations, may we be ever grateful for the greatest gifts of Love given by the Creator. May we lift our voices to the Wind so our prayers may be carried to the Great Spirit. Then, may we wait in the stillness to listen for Spirit’s answer.

9 Flint/Etznab – Paris, Reflection of our Sorrow

9 Flint/ETZNAB (Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA)

9 Flint/ETZNAB

9 Flint/ETZNAB

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine reuires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. A completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.

Flint/ETZNAB: Mirror of reality. As a struck flint, these persons are the divine sparks of intelligence. Flint’s innate abilities are utlized to discriminate emotions from fact. Flint persons stand tireless to protect, defend, or cure others by personal sacrifice. By courageously wielding the sword of truth, falsehoods are cut away. Flints, it was said, can receive information on inter-personal troubles or evil plots of others by reflecting in an obsidian mirror. Their valiant service as warriors of the truth must be impeccable or they will experience sufferings of accidens, misunderstandings and gossip.

Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA: Flint’s symbol is Chawa’ or Castor of the Castor and Pollux Twins in Gemini.  Castor appears in the evening personifying darkness. Pollux then appears in the east at dawn to end the night. Totem is a Flint Knife.  Flint spirit shone a light like the sun and gave the people the Sacred Venus Calendar, fixed the days and promised to watch over the earthlings.  A flint person endeavors to keep that covenant.  Opener of the Way, a creator, innovator, stretches the mind to outside limits of capabilities. Changes the static to the dynamic.  Brings about change, often through separation and destruction.  Beams the Stellar Ray of Truth to Earth as a crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning flash. The transformer brings things to a head and wipes the slate clean.

Paris, Reflection of our Sorrow

The conflict in our world is a reflection of the depth of our collective sorrow.

At the heart of our deepest pain is the fear of our separation. To be seen and heard is the principle evidence that we may be connected in the physical world. At the heart of every conflict in an inability to see one another as our own reflection.

As part of the One, we must accept that we, too, are part of the darkness. When we can only see one side, we remain in our ignorance of one another. The solution lies not in outrage, having closed eyes and ears.

Love is the only balm that heals all wounds. We can only be healed through our collective sorrow… sorrow for those who are hurting, lives lost, those who have lost ones they love, and sorrow for those who believed there was no other way to be seen or heard, and believing that their own lives didn’t matter.

We know so little of the full reality – primarily, only the Truth as presented by 5 media sources. We are led into ignorance of one another through the filters of self-motivated interests. We can love that too, for its reflection of where healing is needed and where we must shine our light.

We are no longer powerless when we are armed with pure love. Our Sorrow and Love are the reflection of the beauty that can connect us again.

To all my relations, may our steadfast love be a bridge to understanding that there is no ‘Other’. We are all a part of the One and the wounded lie on both sides of the mirror. We call upon your help to ease our suffering and to carry our prayers to the Creator for the protection and safety of All who are still in harm’s way.

5 Jaguar/IX – Gifts of Spirit

5 Jaguar/IX (Cherokee, Panther Saho’ni)

5 Jaguar/IX

5 Jaguar/IX

Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment. At the center of the cube we find Five. Five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives are natural networkers who gather what is needed. These persons can probe directly to the core of any situation making them excellent investigators.

Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength of character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealthful, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.

Totem-Jaguar:  Guardian of the portals to other dimensions, shamanic abilities will open.  Multi-dimensional magic. Healer, leader, way shower energy when used for spiritual growth. Abuse would be using this power for control or negative purposes.  Must find a powerful balance.

Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI:  Symbol – comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, magicians.  The early-morning Leo constellation Meteors appearing around the middle of November are Heralds of the Coming of the Light, the Cherokee New Year.  Shadow of the Sphinx, Herald of the Dawn, guardians of the night when the sun is traveling through the underworld. Shapeshifters, manipulators of manifestations. Unlimited imaginations, visualizations, spellbinding speakers.

Gifts of Spirit

Galactic Tone 5 brings empowerment to our communications and our application of knowledge. With Jaguar Vision we can see through the darkness.

Jaguar/IX’s deep love of nature guides us to deepen our connection to Spirit through the natural world. Here we can experience our oneness with every living thing. As Jaguar Vision makes us capable to see that all form and matter ARE living things we are gifted with ‘knowing’ the deeper dimensions of ourselves, and our own special magic. Continue reading

4 Reed/BEN – Channel of Love

4 Reed/BEN (Cherokee, Reed I’hya)

4 Reed/BEN

4 Reed/BEN

Galactic Tone 4: Stability; the cube is most stable of all forms and establishes volume by definition of height, length, depth and breadth; 4 directions establish orientation. The energy of 4 sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, work, or relationship.

Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peace, harmony, and order to all of their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a log of appreciation, many have a marriage or business problems because of inflexible views and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson of Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe.

Cherokee Cherokee, Reed I’hya: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini.  Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind.  A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.

Channel of Love

In Native American tradition, the Reed is hollow tube, through which our Spirits are connected to the divine. The glyph illustrates two Reeds – one channel, for the out-breath of our prayers to the Creator, and another, as in-breath through which we may receive inspiration from Spirit. Continue reading

3 Road/EB – Road to Destiny

3 Road/EB (Cherokee: Rattlesnake Tooth/KANU’GA)

3 Road/EB

3 Road/EB

Galactic Tone 3: Movement. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.

Road/EB: The bearer of time and conductor of destiny; also known as Human; these persons open the road and guide to the future groups, communities and individuals alike. Likable, obedient, dedicated hard workers and organizers, Road persons are fortunate in business and travel. Many become care takers of the poor, sick, or old people, where they may make personal sacrifices. Sometimes referred to as the sign of Grass, which is the most bountiful of all life forms, but is also the most humble. Road persons are affectionate and emphatic; they are easily hurt but slow to anger. Holding in of negative emotions and unexpressed resentment can lead to illness, a poisoned opinion of others and a false bravado for this sun sign.

Cherokee, Rattlesnake Tooth: Symbol is Rainbow, a delicate display of electromagnetic rays of the SUN. The Natal day sign of Medicine, the Shaman, the Priest, the Healer, and the Sorcererkh; Guardian of the Way, Keeper of the Keys of the secret Kingdom.

Road to Destiny

Tone 3 is our first movement of this 13-day trecena as we enter the journey of Road/EB, bearer of time and conductor of destiny. Our movement in the world over time manifests our destiny. The destiny we create is influenced by what we bring along on the journey. Through self-understanding we can see what gifts we may bring.  Though, discovering where our weaknesses lie may be far more valuable. Continue reading

1 Dog/OC Trecena – Love is.

1 Dog/OC (Cherokee, Wolf/ KANA’TI) – Love IS.

1 Dog/OC Trecena

1 Dog/OC Trecena

Galactic Tone 1: Unity. One is the beginning of all things, the first, the whole and the all in one. One’s are assertive and self-guided and give a good push to whatever project they are associated with.

Dog/OC: Loyalty and faithfulness that survives beyond death.  This was the first day of creation energy in this 4th world, setting the energy for love, loyalty and faithfulness on the 5200 year cycle.  Heart chakra energy is involved so that we can move to the state of “unconditional love” with compassion.  All sexual desire issues that are not in harmony will surface to be cleared.

Cherokee, Wolf/Kana’ti – O’Oj: Dog/OC is a symbol of Sirius (Dog star) and Antares; one or the other is always visible but never at the same time.  Wolf is our brother, shares our very roots.  All dogs are domesticated wolves, companionship and guidance; connecting a link between the worlds; wolf is the day sign associated with teachers, pathfinders and transformers.

Love IS.

Galactic Tone 1 brings us to the beginning of a new trecena under the day sign of Dog/OC. Dog/OC will be the underlying energy influencing each of the 13 days in this cycle.

Dog/OC opens the 13-day trecena of devotion, companionship, self-sacrifice and unconditional love. This trecena has the power to teach us that love is the key to understanding, and the way to live in harmony with all our relations. Continue reading

13 Offering/Muluc – Spirit will answer.

13 Offering/Muluc (Cherokee, The River, Yun’wi Gunnahi’ta)

13 Offering/MULUC

13 Offering/MULUC

Galactic Tone 13: Ascension: Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.

Offering/MULUC: The sign of water. Ceremonially, Maya use water as an offering in baptisms and purifications, done to bring about a collective strength, adaptability and harmony. Fluid of the cosmos to fluids in the body, Muluc offers the energy to clear all karmic debts, personally, and on a mass level with fluid and grace. Muluc is also associated with the Moon and the emotional body. Water days are a good time to analyze your wishes and prayers and connect them to any rituals or practices you follow.

Cherokee, The River/ Yun’wi Gunnahi’ta: The “Fountain of Life”, giver of all fluids, water, rain, tears; the Milky Way is also referred to as The River.

Spirit will answer.

The River carries water along the way to its final destination. At the delta, water passes into the ocean to be transformed into something new.

With the Tone 13 of Ascension, we have arrived at a new horizon. We are prepared to move our intentions forward with the vision from a higher vantage point. Offering/Muluc touches our hearts and emotions that we may be fully engaged in the process.

On 5 (Empowerment) Star/LAMAT (Multiplication to Abundance) Spirit drew forth the tradition of a 21-Day Ceremony of Gratitude as a proven and worthy Spirit Tool. On the following morning, this journal was begun in earnest when I realized the message was meant for me. Proceeding as Day 2, I offered the commitment of my presence through the 21 days with the intention of multiplying gratitude. With no idea what I may be able to share for 21 days, I continued forward with the assurance that all that was necessary was for me to just be present.

The 21 days were completed yesterday, and as we arrive at 13 (Ascension), Muluc (Offering) my attention is focused on the way ahead and how I may continue on with my journey. On 8 Batz, the Mayan New Year, I made a personal commitment to complete the 260 Tzolkin round, journaling inspiration from Spirit and to recreate the art of the glyphs each day. With new vision I can see that the power for the transformation that followed was in the commitment and in my connection to all, in lak’ech.

To all my relations, I present myself as an Offering. I release myself into the divine flow of The River as an open vessel to be guided as the energies of the sacred Tolkin may find me worthy… for the greater good of the collective, the One and the All.

21 Days of Gratitude, Day 20 – Deepest Gratitude

11 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)

11 Deer/Hand/MANIK

11 Deer/Hand/MANIK

Galactic Tone 11: Resolution; 11 assists every new thing to find it’s place in the universe in the process of ‘fitting in.’ some modifications must occur. Eleven is the energy of dynamic actions facilitating change, simplification and improvement.

Deer/Hand/MANIK: Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number 4, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above liitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination.

Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Totem-deer is a priest or shaman; ability to create harmonic resonance; they enjoy rituals, ceremonial feasts and are the souls of hospitality and sociability; combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans.

See my Tzolkin Page for resources.

Deepest Gratitude

11 Deer/MANIK calls on us to reflect on our Spirit Tools. The Mayan Calendar is a very powerful Spirit Tool revealing the ‘sacred cycle of creation.’ The Tzolkin illustrates an evolutionary process that is advanced in cycles of 13 days. 20 cycles of 13 complete the 260-day Tzolkin round. The power of this tool is palpable only in the process of using it, as over time, its synchronicity reveals the evidence of our connection to the One and All.

20 Days ago, on 4 Deer/MANIK (October 14), the idea of ‘21 Days of Gratitude’ as Sacred ceremony was brought forward as a worthy Spirit Tool. The ceremony amounts to the process of simply holding/returning attention to gratitude over the course of 21 days… as a Sacred charge.

Without realizing it, you were also chosen as a Spirit Tool. Because of you, I found myself committed to a daily journal. And, because of you, I have committed more time to a daily spiritual practice than ever before in my life. 20 days later, I can’t begin to explain all the ways my world has been changed, through our connection.

As we arrive back at Deer/MANIK, the Galactic Tone 11 of Resolution makes clear the power of the Spirit Tools that were chosen, and encourages us to consider what Spirit Tools we may now carry forward.

To all my relations, YOU. Thank YOU in lak’ech from the place of my DEEPEST GRATITUDE. 11 Deer/MANIK calls me to Honor ‘your presence’ as I find our shared connection as being among the most powerful Spirit Tools of all.

21 Days of Gratitude, Day 18 – Spirit that Transforms

9 Serpent/CHICCHAN (Cherokee, Serpent Do’tsi)

Chicchan, Feathered Serpent, Kukulkan or QuetzalcoatlGalactic Tone 9: Patience; getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With energy of 9, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. 9 requires patience and perseverance found in the bigger picture.

Serpent/CHICCHAN: Movement and the creation of time; sensual and dramatic, this sun sign embodies intense instinctual wisdom and creates a connection from Earth bound to heavenly aspirations. By sincere service to others, Serpent opens and expands its heart. Serpents are very adaptable, even fluid, until trapped in a corner, and then they explode. Chicchan symbolizes the transformation of time, transcendence, and individual evolution, and represents those predestined for spiritual vocations.

Cherokee Serpent/DO’TSI: Symbol is Constellation Serpens. (The brightest star in Serpens is Unukalhai or Cor Serpentis “Serpent’s Heart”.) Serpent people are Sky people who come to earth periodically as Educators. As above-So below, on Earth the Serpent is the roots of the tree of knowledge. Serpent power is vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, the trigger that sets off the action. It lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself.

See my Tzolkin Page for resources.

Spirit that Transforms

Serpent/Chicchan is described as one of the most powerful daysigns in the Tzolk’in and is “associated with the mystical Feathered Serpent, Kukulkan or Quetzalcoatl as the Aztecs called this deity.” (Mayan Calendar Portal) Chicchan presents us with an opportunity to be transformed through Spirit.

The transformative energy of Chicchan is likened to the quickening of “Kundalini Energy,”  also referred to as “The Serpentine Fire.” The symbol of intertwined snakes is representative of spiraling energy making its way up the spine and  resembles the double-helix DNA molecule of all living organisms.

Galactic Tone 9 encourages us to see something through. We may be impatient due to a limited perspective.  “The way things should be” can prevent us from seeing transformation already in motion.

If we are willing to see things in a new light, we may experience a profound awakening. If we are ground in to closed thinking, we may suffer the lost opportunity. Under the 13-day trecena, Earth/Caban we are creating a new world. That requires new thinking. We can be opened through our willingness to throw aside preconceived notions.

Serpent/CHICCHAN embodies deep, instinctual wisdom and intelligence, and can teach us how to be fluid and flexible. The new inspiration that will result is the catalyst for a longed-for Spiritual transformation.

To all my relations, I stand steadfast in faith that my prayers are heard and responded to.

The evidence may not be seen (yet), but felt within.

HOLIDAY WISHES…
Happy Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

The Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated in central and southern Mexico on the days of November 1 and 2. Though it coincides with the Catholic holiday called All Soul’s and All Saint’s Day, the indigenous people have combined this with their own ancient tradition of honoring their deceased loved ones.

Altars are decorated with candles, flowers, photos and other items that represent the interests and life of the deceased, along with offerings of food, drink, and bread. The belief is that the gates of heaven open on midnight of October 31st and the spirits of the children are allowed to return for 24 hours to reunite with their families. On the second day, November 2nd, the spirits of the adults arrive to enjoy the festivities prepared for them.

Day of the Dead Altar

Day of the Dead Altar

Observing the holiday with friends in Puerto Penasco, MX, students built altars as a school open house project. Blazing candles throughout the school would never have flown in the USA. 🙂  The students loved sharing stories about the meanings behind their displays. I was curious to see bottles of tequilla and some kind of silver hooks on one altar, which turned out to be cock-fighting spurs of an uncle, who I was told also liked tequilla.

It was their tradition to have a party at the cemetary on November 2nd, where  folding chairs, coolers, picnic food and boombox music was the backdrop for sharing old stories and memories of the deceased.

The tradition has spread to parts of the US. I was first introduced to the tradition by celebrations held in Tucson, AZ. I created my own Day of the Dead altar and found it to be an awesome experience. It was as if I were hosting an open house for my deceased loved ones, as their presence was felt coming and going over the course of the holiday.

The door of Spirit is open to acknowledge and send love to your deceased loved ones.
