MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Tone 8 holds the Peak Energy of Transformation. 8 is the Solar Number of “Pure Spirit.” Our “transformation phase” (Tones 8-13) is illustrated as the descending steps of the pyramid. Like the calendar pyramid at Chichen Itza, the “descent” relates to the “Light Coming Down” the stairs – the descent of Kukulkan.
Night/AKBAL was the leader of our last trecena. Every transformation is built on the Wisdom of the last. We Ascended AKBAL’s Vision Quest with a Higher Spiritual Consciousness. Today, AKBAL is exalted as Holy Ground, the place of Wisdom that inspired an even Higher Intention.
AKBAL is the Spirit that speaks to us in our Dreams, either awake or asleep. AKBAL makes the connection between our Intellect and our Intuition, connecting the Wisdom of the Mind to the Heart. AKBAL is the Light that is always shining in the Darkness.
Under the Wisdom/CIB trecena we have advanced to the “Masters Class.” The Ascended Masters advance the Consciousness of our Spiritual Gifts through an application of real-life experience. We were willing to take a “Leap of Faith” to experience the Truth of our Divine Guidance. On Tone 8 our “work of Faith” is Acknowledged by the Old Ones. They can transform our Faith into Belief.
PORTAL DAY: ETHER OF SPIRIT
Portal days thin the veil to other dimensions. The Element of Ether will magnify the Voice of Spirit and our connection to the Old Ones. On the 8 Night/AKBAL we are called forward to receive a Spiritual Blessing that makes it possible to Believe in our Spiritual Gifts.
Making the connection between Mind, Heart and Soul, 8 Night/AKBAL holds Potential for an important a Spiritual Experience. AKBAL is the Light in the Darkness that Speaks a Truth we’ve longed to know.
Our Intentions of Spiritual Development are our most Sacred Intentions. The same Spiritual Gifts were shared with everyone. Their purpose is to make it possible to live in Love and Harmony. They were presented so that everyone could discover them. The only way NOT to see them is to deny them. The Creator intended for ALL to Know. The Creator waits patiently for us to Acknowledge the Gifts that were given.
Self-doubt is a hurdle that prevents from Believing. We subconsciously maintain an inventory of our worst offenses. Silently, we wonder if we are the exception, afraid we are either “unworthy” or will never be “enough” to Know. Divine Intervention makes hard things easier. The Voice of Akbal can wipe away our tears.
I still remember my first 8 Night/AKBAL experience as a turning point in my own Spiritual Development. The morning began as a “dark night of the soul.” I woke heavy of heart over life’s challenges. I felt despair as I saw it was all my own fault. All the suffering I carried was based on my own lower choices of yesterday. I wondered what Truth I could possibly stand on to believe I was worthy of a miracle.
The Mayan calendar has taught me the language of the heart – to express my prayers through my feelings more than words. I unloaded the full weight of what was in my heart – the sorrow and self-blame of not measuring up. In the moment I “let everything go” a spontaneous Voice of Spirit shared a Message I’ll never forget. I was broken. The “Voice” was clearly not my own.
“I’ve known you since the very beginning. I know every heartache. I know every burden you’ve carried, every injustice you bore through no fault of your own. I love you and there is nothing in you that needs to be forgiven. You are more than worthy of every blessing.”
I was filled by an in-pouring of Forgiveness that eased my heart and comforted my Spirit. I became Conscious of how Unconditional Love held the Power to wipe away every fear and sorrow. It was a day I Believed that what was promised to others was no less true for me.
Wisdom/CIB teaches us that our Highest Consciousness is made possible by Forgiveness. This “Experience of Forgiveness and Unconditional Love” is among our most Beautiful Spiritual Gifts of the Creator. God’s Grace changes us when we Know we are Loved as we Are.
Today is a day of a Spiritual Initiation. “Initiation” has been a tradition among “schools” of Spiritual Development as far back as the oldest recorded Mystery Teachings. They were considered an important step of development. They were ceremonies that marked the milestones of Wisdom and Consciousness.
We naturally celebrate our important milestones. Our secular “initiations” include the first step, the first day of school, the first graduation – and on. Each is a life-changing event that marks a milestone to a new experience of living. Through a Sacred Ceremony of Initiation we Acknowledge the Wisdom that makes us New and accept it as a Sacred Gift.
In our day and time, many lack the access to a Spiritual Community that would perform such an Initiation. Every Human deserves the same Spiritual opportunity. It is Right and Good and Necessary to Initiate Our Self.
We can create our own Initiation Ceremony. We can approach the altar with our greatest reverence. We might wear a head covering or a prayer shawl. We might draw inspiration from own initiations in the past. I still remember the experience of being called forward in church to receive my first Bible. We can call ourselves forth to receive a Blessing that allows us to Acknowledge our own Spiritual Growth. We can come in Humility. Our Sacred Exchange to the Creator is Accepting the Gift, and Acknowledging that it was extended by the Hand of God. We can remember the Sacred Hearth tended by the Elders among the places where we are waited to be received.
This is an important day to set aside a Divine Purpose unto ourselves. Once we Know the Feeling of Forgiveness we hold a Truth that sets us Free to Claim the Purity of our Spirit.
To all my relations, may we approach an altar where the Old Ones wait to receive us. As we come, may we lay our burdens down and Acknowledge the Greatness of the Gifts given from the Hand of God. May we open our heart to receive the Experience of Divine Forgiveness, to Know the Experience of being seen Without Blemish. We are worthy to be a Holy Sacrifice – willing to Die to the World to be Reborn in Spirit. May we recognize how much progress we are making, even as we must bear the time. May we give thanks that any Higher Ground we claim is the new starting place that will inspire a Higher Intention. May we Believe in the Power of our Intentions, counting on the Intervention of a Divine Agency and the Creator’s Justice. In a new Initiation may we listen for the Voice of the Creator’s Unconditional Love.

8 Night/AKBAL (Cherokee, HEARTH/O’YA)
Galactic Tone 8: Justice. Harmony and balance are the intent of Eight. Eights carefully weigh all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement, “As above, so below”. From simplicity to infinity, the energy of Eight organizes all levels of creation. Some Eights are “Neat Freaks”.
Night/Akbal: Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurities and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled. These persons travel the Void. a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells, the womb of creation. From this void, Night persons bring forth new solutions and artistic inspiration. Night’s voyages of dreams build confidence and happiness with a sense of well being. If night does not bravely journey into the void they may find themselves wandering the darkness of self doubt and insecurity.
Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA: Hearth’s symbol is the fire pit in the Center, velvet black as the night. The triangle in Orion. The M42 nebula (home of the Central race from the WingMakers) in the center of the triangle of Orion is the fire in the Hearth, also matching the Mayan. The Hearth is the Torchbearer who holds the light and warmth throughout the night. Belief is so strong that the surrounding elements become entrained to their rhythm and all resistance falls away. With respect and honor of intuition combined with knowledge this energy creates the magic of the center in this dimension. AKBAL-Night-Totem-OWL: Guardian of the Night Sun. Energies for the opening of mystic secrets, seeing through the masks of deception, trickery. High ability of discernment. Portals open to other worlds and dimensions for your learning and spiritual growth. Magical abilities are possible.
