SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: APRIL 16, 2024
INCREASING SOLAR FLARE ACTIVITY: During the past 24 hours, the sun has produced half-a-dozen M-class solar flares. Most have come from growing sunspot AR3639 near the sun’s northeastern limb:
We expect this activity to continue and intensify. AR3639 has quadrupled in size since the weekend, and it is now turning toward Earth. Geoeffective solar flares are likely on April 16th.

Two Comets: One survives, the other disintegrates into the Sun
SOLAR ECLIPSE COMETS–PLURAL: Chinese amateur astronomer Lin Zixuan made headlines last week when he traveled to New Hamphire and photographed a comet disintegrating during the total eclipse of the sun. Make that two comets. A closer look at his photos revealed Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks as well:

Only one of these comets still exists. Sungrazer SOHO-5008 disintegrated soon after Zixuan took its picture. Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is still falling toward the sun for a close encounter (0.78 AU) on April 21st. It is expected to survive.
Recent photos of 12P show a magnificent tail bent and twisted by the solar wind. Amateur astronomers can find it low on the western horizon after sunset.

3 Reed/BEN (Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA) – Day 3 of 13, the 1 Monkey/CHUEN trecena
CORE DAYS: The 7th Uinal in the Center of the Tzolk’in is compared to our own axis mundi, the center of our own universe where we are always perfectly positioned at the center of the 4 directions. The axis is the “line around which any body rotates.” Like a spinning gyroscope, we find our balance in a relationship shared between the Above and the Below. Holding a focus within the center of our Self, we reside in the place of perfect balance.

Galactic Tone 3: Action. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rhythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.
Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peace, harmony and order to all o their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a lot of appreciation, may have marriage or business problems because of inflexible vies and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson for Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe. Bless or repair your house.
A GOOD DAY TO: Bless and repair the home.
Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini. Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind. A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.
SHINING BY THE MOON: From April 15 to 21, the Moon will visit the constellations Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and Virgo. This week, the bright dots near the Moon will be Pollux (mag 1.2) from Gemini and Regulus (mag 1.4) from Leo.
