SPACEWEATHER: Incoming “Daylight” Comet

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 8/27/2024

INCOMING ‘DAYLIGHT COMET’ IS STILL ALIVE: Amateur astronomers have been wondering how Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (C/2023 A3) is doing. NASA has an answer: “It’s still alive.” The incoming comet, which could become visible in broad daylight in October, was spotted this month by NASA’s STEREO-A spacecraft apparently in good health on the other side of the sun. Click to set the scene in motion:

Astronomers on Earth have not been able to track the comet for weeks because of the sun’s glare. STEREO-A’s movie is reassurance that the comet has not broken apart despite predictions to the contrary.

Astronomer Qicheng Zhang of the Lowell Observatory is optimistic about the comet’s chances:”It continues to brighten steadily, and is now up to magnitude 7,” he says. “It also continues to display a very robust ion tail. There are zero signs that the nucleus is disintegrating.”

This is good news for sky watchers. If Tsuchinshan-ATLAS can hold itself together just a little longer, it will become a naked-eye object in late Sept. and October. Zhang predicts “the comet will brighten to magnitude +4 ± 1 at perihelion on Sept. 27th, to a daylight peak of -3 ± 1 near inferior conjunction on Oct. 9th, and subsequently produce a quite possibly 20+ degree dust tail visible under dark skies (Oct ~19) before fading away.”

“It reminds me of the very similar Comet Arend-Roland in 1957, whose combined tails extended several tens of degrees for a few days,” notes Zhang. “I consider a comparable display to be by far the most likely scenario for mid-October.”

The comet will re-emerge from sunlight in mid-September, becoming visible to telescopes in the southern hemisphere. How will it be doing then? Stay tuned!

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH–CANCELLED: A CME expected to graze Earth’s magnetic field on Aug. 26th either missed or it is approaching more slowly than predicted. Either way, a geomagnetic storm is unlikely. The G1 watch is cancelled.

Mayan Time…

The Power of a Divine Witness
7 Deer/MANIK is the Peak Position to see “all that is” and “all that is not.” All things are known to the Author of Creation. Truth is revealed in the Time Ordered by the Creator. MANIK guides us to be vigilantly watchful every day, to remember the Source of all things. That’s the only way to be present for the Truth that will be revealed.

The trecena of IMIX is the Dawn of a New Awakening, a new beginning from which to claim the Highest Consciousness of the Truth in the end.

7 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi) – Day 7 of 13, 1 Crocodile/IMIX trecena

Galactic Tone 7: Reflective. Seven stands as a mirror to divide light and dark and to reflect all that is and is not. Seven is associated with the source of creation and the flow of Divine Will. With a keen sense of ethics, Seven establishes purpose to current and future goals.

Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.

A GOOD DAY TO: Be of Service to Others

Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions.  Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer:  A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician.  Ability to create harmonic resonance.
