SPACEWEATHER: Blue Auroras, a Sign of Nitrogen

Nitrogen: The Building Blocks for Life

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 01/27/2026

LAST WEEK’S BLUE AURORA STORM: The vast majority of auroras are red and green. During last week’s severe geomagnetic storm, many observers saw a different color: Blue. On Jan. 20th, David Varros photographed the phenomenon from Rileyville, Virginia:

The blue color was visible to the naed aye and bright enough for Varros to photograph using his off-the-shelf iPhone 16.

In auroras, blue is a sign of nitrogen. The color is produced by solar wind particles hitting ionized molecular nitrogen (N2+) at the top of Earth’s atmosphere. It is extremely rare to see this blue glow, however, for the simple reason that there aren’t a lot of N2+ molecules up there. Intense geomagnetic storming is required to ignite visible blue.

The CME that reached Earth on Jan. 19th struck with a velocity in the top few percent of all CMEs ever observed. This caused more than 12 hours of severe (G4-class) geomagnetic storming with conditions that favored bright blue. Browse the list below for more examples.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH (G1): Isolated G1-class geomagnetic storms are likely on Jan. 28th when a stream of solar wind reaches Earth. The gaseous material is flowing from a small yet well-aimed hole in the sun’s atmosphere.

Mayan Calendar Time and Synchronicity

5 Serpent/CHICCHAN is a Day of Empowerment by a Hand Above. Nitrogen represents the building blocks for life, shared through Lightning that transforms Air into Living Water.

Blue is a symbol of Spirit and Truth that speaks through the heart. 5 Serpent/CHICCHAN represents the Quickening of Spirit the Maya call “lightning in the blood.” God reveals himself through the Sixth Sense of the Heart.

THE TRECENA OF CROCODILE/IMIX: DAWN OF A NEW AWAKENING

It only takes 13 days to see how Faith is always raised to Knowing the Truth of Answered Prayers. You only have to track your thoughts. Record the matters on your mind in a journal to see how your perspective is changed by a Divine Order of Thoughts.

The first trecena of the Tzolk’in is the Legend of the Truth we will realize in the end.

5 Serpent/CHICCHAN (Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI) – Day 5 of 13, 1 Crocodile/IMIX trecena

Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment. At the center of the cube we find Five. Five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives are natural net workers who gather what is needed. These persons can probe directly to the core of any situation making them excellent investigators.

Serpent/CHICCHAN: Movement and the creation of time. Sensual and dramatic, this sun sign embodies intense instinctual wisdom and creates a connection from Earth bound, to Heavenly aspirations. By sincere service to others, Serpent opens and expands its heart. Serpent aligns authority and the truth to bring justice that is quick and sure. Serpents are very adaptable, even fluid until trapped in a corner, and then they explode. Serpents, venomous temper poisons itself as well as others by creating resentful, suppressive and even destructive attitudes.

A GOOD DAY TO: Ask for fluidity and flexibility.

Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI: Serpent’s symbol is Constellation Serpens. Serpent people are Sky people who come to earth periodically as Educators. As above-So below, on Earth the Serpent is the roots of the tree of knowledge. Serpent power is vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, the trigger that sets off the action. It lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself. Knowledge, combining science, technology and psychology, plus spirituality are seeded on the planet through the descending Light of the Serpent.
