A Whole-Earth Event and the Truth from Above

EarthSky.Org: August 25, 2026

People in Africa, Europe, parts of Greenland, Antarctica, most of the Americas and the eastern Pacific Ocean will see a deep lunar eclipse overnight on August 27-28, 2026. The eclipse won’t be total. But it’ll be nearly total, with 96% of the moon within the Earth’s dark umbral shadow at mid-eclipse.

The Full Moon on Tuesday, 1 August 2023, is the first Supermoon at 09°15′ Aquarius. A second full moon, also a Supermoon, will occur at the end of the month on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. A Supermoon occurs when the moon’s orbit is closest (perigee) to Earth at the same time it is full. A rare phenomenon, this Blue Moon in Pisces is also the closest Supermoon of the year.
