12 Wind / IK – Witness to a Miracle: Day 12 of 13

MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

12 Wind / IK

Greetings Kin,

Tone 12 brings the intention of Understanding and offers us a gift of Retrospection. As we look back on our experience, all the pieces can be drawn together to establish a new Personal Truth. We are transformed by the Wisdom of our new experience.

The Monkey/CHUEN trecena holds the purpose of Inspiration. The Monkey helped us to see our lives as an Artistic Expression of Being. We are always creating. Through our Consciousness of the Divine, we can create Beauty. Each experience creates a thread in our tapestry of darkness and light. As we look back, placing the threads together, beauty can always be created from Higher Consciousness.

Wind/IK is the Breath of Life and Breath of Spirit. The Cherokee Whirlwind represents the whirling of life and the breath of the Universe that carries the Sacred Smoke to the Great Spirit. The rhythm of our breath is the pulse of the universe. We breath and are breathed into Light by the Creator.

Wind/IK resides in the North, the direction that connects us to the Ancestors and their Sacred Wisdom. The glyph illustrates a portal carved in stone that is seen in many of the sacred sites of the Maya. They were windows to the stars that magnified the sound of the wind… the sounds of life and the Voice of the Creator. They call attention to the world created by the sound of our voice.

The words we speak are an Expression of Spirit. Through retrospection we can see how our Voice defined our experience. We can have a new understanding of how truly important it is to think before we speak. The Spoken Word is the defining moment of Creation. Our words hold the power to perpetuate the darkness or create new light. Through the Consciousness of our own thoughts, we have a chance to choose what we create.

Words of Love uplift, edify, and spread the Light of Spirit, while our words of negativity perpetuate darkness. From either extreme, our words have a lasting effect on those that hear them. This morning I woke remembering kind words that were shared in my childhood. I hadn’t characterized the incident as significant. It was a such a simple exchange, I wondered why it was something I remembered. Human must long for and cherish words of kindness. Perhaps the Human mind resists discarding the memories of even the smallest expression of beauty. We remember the people who bring Light to our life.

Words also have a lasting effect on the one who speaks them. We discern our own identity by the words we say. They determine whether we see ourselves as worthy or miss the mark. Through words of kindness we follow a direct course ahead. When we spread negativity, we always have something to go back and clean up.

Monkey/CHUEN has helped us see the Truth that we are Creators. Monkey shows us a way of reflecting on our experience through curiosity instead of judgement. Beauty is created by our discernment of an experience. Just as Human was given the gift to discern the Voice of the Creator, we can discern the thoughts of our Lower and Higher Self. We can choose which ones we express through the gift of Higher Consciousness.

8 Flint/ETZNAB presented me with the truth of my shadow. I received the text message invitation for Thanksgiving on Wednesday night. It was the first year there was no advanced planning to talk about dinner and what I would bring. I know people are busy, but last minute invitations have been the trend this year. I know the Truth that I have a standing holiday invitation, though I felt forgotten. I was feeling the melancholy of “perfect holidays past,” trips to the family farm, sisters gathered in Mom’s kitchen, pouring over cookbooks.

Flint gathered a pile of darkness from old illusions of injustice. My reasoning mind put all “my facts” together. What I was tempted to “tell it like it is,” but knew that wasn’t the answer. I didn’t have an answer. I was temporarily stuck in my judgement of personal injustice. After speculation of potential for discord at the Thanksgiving dinner table, the last thing I wanted to be was the “red herring.”  I felt powerless to change the thing I couldn’t accept.

I was saved by Divine Intervention. I shared my authentic feelings with the Creator and turned to the discernment of a trusted friend. She shed light on the illusion and, basically, advised me to clean up and show up. Suddenly, everything looked different. I’d been given a second chance to create beauty. I was able to stand in my Truth, shining the Light of Love on others. My Thanksgiving was tied up like a beautiful package with a big red bow. I was tackled by hugs and exchanges of Love when I met the door. It was one of the best Thanksgivings in recent memory. It seemed ridiculously easy to create this Light instead of darkness.

Through retrospection we can turn away from our darkness to see the Light of Truth. If I’d shared the gut reaction from my Lower Self, there would still be a mess to clean up.

To accomplish the work of a Spiritual Warrior, we must always be on guard for our illusions of darkness. Using our Spiritual Authority to create Light requires Consciousness of our thoughts. When we give ourselves time to think things through, we can arrive at a Higher Discernment of our experience. Creating beauty suddenly seems easy, considering the payoff.  On the Holy Day of Flint my bad karma was swept away.

8 Flint/ETZNAB made its memorable impression. We don’t have to sustain injury to learn Flint’s truth. We only need to surrender in Humility to the truth that is presented, instead of “acting out” as we may be tempted to do.

The Creator made it easy for Human to Create Light. Even the smallest words of kindness hold an enduring Light.

Through our communion with the Creator we can share our authentic feelings, and arrive at the Divine Discernment that “Life is Good.” Through this simple declaration, we will create a world of beauty.

Wind can change the direction of our lives quickly. Discerning the Voice of the Creator, WE can be changed quickly.  We can create a world of beauty through our declaration of the beauty all around us. We can choose all the beauty we want.

To all my relations, may Retrospection help us see that we create our own world. May we be grateful that we can change directions at any moment. May we learn to recognize the voice of our Lower Self and Love that too, for its purpose of signaling the presence of darkness that can be transformed by Light. May we look to the future with a new hope, realizing that every effort of our Spiritual Climb always leads us to a Higher Place of Being. Following a path of Divine Consciousness, we are shown the way to create our own Divine Justice of Harmony and Equity. May we be Witness to the Miracle that God shared the Power to Create through the spoken word.

Tzolk’in Core Days and the 21 days leading to the K’iche Maya New Year

21 DAYS of CEREMONY:  Day 12
Observing 21 days of Personal Sacred Ceremony is a traditional preparation for the K’iche Maya New Year, 8 B’atz (8 Monkey/CHUEN). The New Year is a celebration of Time, and the day of Initiation for the new Mayan Daykeepers. We are preparing for an initiation into a new way of being. We can employ the Magic of the Jaguar by observing these 21 Days in Gratitude.

I’m grateful that I don’t have to learn everything the hard way. I’m grateful for a Creator who wants us to share everything, so we have a “right place” to release our darkness. I’m grateful that the darkness we share is always met with a discernment of Unconditional Love. I’m grateful that I can see that “Life is Good,” so I can Honor the Creator’s gift through a Divine Acknowledgement of my blessings.  I’m grateful that God makes it easy through the help of Divine Intervention. I’m grateful for friends who can both honor my feelings, and share the truth. I’m grateful for the Wisdom of my Grandma Naomi who always said, “You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.”

12 Wind/IK (Cherokee, Whirlwind/AGALU’GA)

Galactic Tone 12: Understanding. This number’s energy is a gift of great capability of retrospection. It is this ability that allows Twelve to connect disassociated parts into a (new) functioning whole. The energy of Twelve is that which presents a new piece of understood information or accumulated experience to be applied.

Wind/IK: Breath of Spirit, breath of life. Winds embody the power of dissemination and planting of good seeds or ideas. Dreamers and planners with powerful imaginations, Wind persons make great orators and they spread the word of spiritual inspiration as it is carried by the wind. Wind is the power behind the movement of natural cycles such as weather, erosion, and cultural change. As the wind, these persons are extremely changeable and adaptable. They may appear inconsistent or fickle to others. Wind can be destructive to self and others by putting on airs. When Winds strut and boast, expanding on facts and accomplishments, they are building the dark clouds of trouble that may become hurricanes.

Cherokee, Whirlwind/AGALU’GA: Whirlwind’s symbol is a double spiral helix in rising smoke. Wind brings energy for an Inquiring mind, learning and wisdom. In Cherokee, the constellations are represented by 12 birds (dancers), the 13th bird is the Whirlwind, the lead dancer. This reflects the whirling of life. Wind is the breath of the Universe (matching the Mayan symbol) channel of communication and carries the Sacred Smoke to the Great Spirit (Source- Hunab Ku in Mayan); matches the pulse of the breath of the Cosmos.

  1. You made me feel so inspired-even by flint-I am glad you ended up having a good holiday and most of all feeling loved. I think we just have to stop forming opinions as much as possible . This very difficult-or at least learn to have one as slowly as possible. I have been working on this myself. I fail often, but it seems a good practice. thank you always in lak’ech Michele
