MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
On Tone 13 we Ascend to a New Consciousness of our Power to Create. We were empowered to create through the Spoken Word. The two most unique characteristics of Human are speech and discernment. Both are key traits of communication. We were designed to have a meaningful correspondence with the Creator.
Monkey/CHUEN revealed the Miracle that our Expression of Discernment is the greatest Power in the world. Even the members of the animal world were designed to respond to our command.
Our words can be a blessing or a curse. It’s a Miracle that we can change the world by simply making a Conscious choice between the two. Our greatest empowerment is accomplished by simply paying attention to our thoughts. The core days offered the release from duality to clearly see the truth. We found a way to maintain our Balance by recognizing that the discernment of powerlessness or impossibility is never the Truth.
13 is a Sacred Number that relates to the power of theurgy, our ability to call on the Consciousness of the Creator through our prayers and sacred rituals. Wind/IK, the Whirlwind, was the 13th Dancer who leads the 12. The Christ was the 13th who led the 12 disciples. 13 represents the whole of Creation in 7 days and 6 nights. Through 12 Tones to Understanding, we Ascend to Higher Consciousness on Tone 13.
Night/AKBAL is the Day Sign of Spirit that speaks to us in our dreams. An Inner Voice of the Divine marks the celebration of a Transformation that gives us the Choice to create a world of Beauty. We celebrate the Gift that can transform all our darkness to Light.
The Night/AKBAL glyph illustrates curtains drawn back to reveal a Light always shining in the darkness. AKBAL resides in the West, the direction of our unknown experiences. AKBAL connects our Intellect and Intuition to create the correspondence between our Human and Divine Powers of discernment. On Night/AKBAL we Ascend from our Fear of the Dark.
There is an interesting likeness between the glyph for Monkey/CHUEN and Night/AKBAL. Both reflect the eyes and mouth of the Monkey. One knows all our worldly experience with “time rolled up” on top of its head. The other knows all as the Light Shining in Spirit. As the first and the last Day Signs of this trecena, they reflect our transformation through an Enlightenment of Spirit.
On the day of Ascension we see ourselves in a new way. We might recognize a new awareness of ourselves.. like how we felt upon graduating from school or learning a new trade. We were the Apprentice, led by the Master of all Art. Our Ascension is born as a new belief that we can create more beauty than we thought possible before.
AKBAL is a day prone to dreaming, whether asleep or awake. Through our Dreams we can receive a Divine Communication that we will recognize. We will know its Truth by the Peace it Brings to a Vision of our Future.
The Cherokee Day Sign the Hearth represents the Sacred Fires that burn through the night. The place where the Ascended Masters are gathered and wait for us to call. Their voice calls us to “Be Here Now.” When we visit the Hearth, we’ll remember the way by following the Light. Our Discernment of Love, Harmony, and Equity is always the Voice of Divine Spirit.
The West holds the Element of Water, a symbol of our emotions. The Voice of Spirit will speak through the language of the Heart. A Divine Voice will edify, uplift, and fill us with the Light of Unconditional Love.
Night/AKBAL is said to bring light to all things hidden in darkness, dispelling our insecurities and doubts born of the sub-conscious mind. We are given new courage to face our unknown, knowing the Light of Spirit will always guide us. Under an Ascension guided by AKBAL, we become the Dreamers who Believe in our Dreams.
CHUEN is the 3rd Day Sign of the 20. Three is a symbol of the Divine Trinity, the Body and Soul united by the Holy Spirit. Our Ascension is a Heavenly Celebration of a Closer Relationship with the Creator. With each new Ascension our Faith is Transformed by a new Belief in the Truth.
To all my relations, may we allow ourselves to Dream of everything that Could Be. May we lose the fear of Dreaming of our Highest Aspirations. May we see it as a simple choice to be guided by the Voice of Light. May we call on the Creator through our prayers and rituals to share our Gratitude for a Miracle.
in lak’ech, i am another you

21 DAYS of CEREMONY: Day 13
Observing 21 days of Personal Sacred Ceremony is a traditional preparation for the K’iche Maya New Year, 8 B’atz (8 Monkey/CHUEN). The New Year is a celebration of Time, and the day of Initiation for the new Mayan Daykeepers. We are preparing for an initiation into a new way of being. We can employ the Magic of the Jaguar by observing these 21 Days in Gratitude.
I’m grateful for Higher Ground and a calendar that makes it possible to notice a personal transformation. I’m grateful to choose a world where miracles are not only possible, but can be seen any time we look deeper into the Beauty of our Lives. I’m grateful to know the Voice of the Creator that I can always recognize by the feeling in my heart that I am Unconditionally Loved.

13 Night/AKBAL (Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA)
Galactic Tone 13: Ascension; Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.
Night/Akbal: Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurities and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled. These persons travel the Void… a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells, the womb of creation. From this void, Night persons bring forth new solutions and artistic inspiration. Night’s voyages of dreams build confidence and happiness with a sense of well being. If night does not bravely journey into the void they may find themselves wandering the darkness of self doubt and insecurity.
Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA: Hearth’s symbol is the fire pit in the Center, velvet black as the night. The triangle in Orion. The M42 nebula (home of the Central race from the WingMakers) in the center of the triangle of Orion is the fire in the Hearth, also matching the Mayan. The Hearth is the Torchbearer who holds the light and warmth throughout the night.
