MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Tone 9 carries the Intention of Patience. As plans and patterns start to form, 9 encourages us to look at the bigger picture. Tone 9 intends to complete an understanding, and warns of potential suffering if we fail to look deeper into our thoughts and inspiration. The suffering is the burden we already carry that deeper reflection can allow us to let go.
Our Vision Quest set an Intention to live in the realm of Spirit. Just as we had to learn to walk in the physical world, we’ve been learning to walk in Spirit. The Elders compare walking to “leaps of faith.” When we learned to walk as children, we first mastered the balance of standing still. We master walking when we gain the courage to fall forward.
To accomplish Spiritual Growth we must be willing to fall, to take a leap of Faith into the Unknown place between our present and our future.
CHUEN is the weaver of Time. The glyph illustrates “time rolled up” on the head of the Monkey. Monkey/CHUEN calls us to look more deeply to find the Beauty in our Life. Monkey reflects the Creator’s Gifts of Cognition shared with Human. We take for grated the gifts we use every day. Yet, Human is the only Creation that can acquires wisdom by reason versus instinct. It’s a Spiritual Gift that we can travel through time to revisit the past and envision the future. Our Imagination is a Gift of Spirit, and so are our Dreams.
As we seek the Truth that we are Gifted, Divine Justice will be completed by contemplating the gifts we can already identify. Divine Justice for the Creator is also served. Acknowledging our Gifts is a Sacred Exchange.
Monkey/CHUEN is an Archetype of a Creator. CHUEN is driven by its curiosity. It’s more interested in the discovery than the end result. Unafraid of the Unknown, the Monkey is open to all possibilities. Monkey approaches Life as a divine experiment. “I wonder what happens if I do this?”
Like Dog, Monkey demonstrates aspects of personality that are central to the Creator. Monkey/CHUEN is seen as the Master of all Art. Monkey starts things, but doesn’t finish them. It’s off to the next creation when another potential for beauty captures its imagination. Monkey allows for the Creation to Create itself from an inspiration or possibility. So is Human a dynamic Creation, given possibility and inspiration to complete its own creation. Through the gift of Free Will we were given a choice of what we want to be.
The analogy of walking reminds me of when my children were learning. When they fell down, they looked to me for the discernment of whether to cry. They were basing their experience on a higher discernment. Most parents learn quickly to communicate that everything is still all right. We acknowledge and encouragement for the effort. We can measure our progress by always turning to the Discernment of a Loving Creator.
Monkey/CHUEN is a light-hearted teacher that guides us to “not take our selves so seriously.” The Cherokee Racoon is a trickster that teaches in “good fun” to coax a smile. We might see the humor of it all. If we were making a journey and took a wrong turn, we wouldn’t stop by the side of the road to cry about it. We’d simply turn around or find a different way. We might even see something we would have never discovered on our direct route.
The Elders say there are many ways to accomplish the same thing. We were never meant to all do the same thing in the same way.
Tone 9 completes a Transformation of a new understanding. To walk as Divine Creator’s we must be willing to fall, counting on the Creator to see our way through. AKBAL is said to heal all our fears of the Dark. We are meant to learn that the Darkness of the Unknown is the place of unlimited possibility.
9 Monkey/CHUEN is observed as a Holy Day for the initiation of the Mayan Priestess. Today is the celebration of our Feminine gifts of Intuition, Knowing, Discernment and Compassionate Love. Tone 9 relates to “cause and effect” in matters of Spirit.
To all my relations, may we keep an open mind. May every destination be an opportunity to learn something new. May we recognize that “right” and “wrong” are Human discernments. May we remember there are many ways to accomplish the same thing. May we celebrate our Leaps of Faith.” May we remember that once falling isn’t seen as an end, it becomes just the next place to get up and go again. May we see that we are still learning to walk in Spirit, and with continued practice, we’ll be able to run.

A NEW COMMITMENT TO GRATITUDE:
I’m sharing a the “21-Days of Gratitude” as a perpetual Personal Ceremony through the next journey to 8 Monkey/CHUEN Maya New Year. Today is the 21st day started on 11 Jaguar/IX. Today on 5 Jaguar/IX gifts us with an Empowerment of Gratitude.
Since Jaguar/IX is the Day Sign of Gratitude, it seems right and good to begin and end every 21 days on Jaguar/IX. So, today will be both Day 21 of one ceremony, and also Day 1 of the next. (Our next 21-Days of Gratitude begins 5 Jaguar/IX (Kin 174) and ends on 12 Jaguar/IX (Kin 194), a day of Understanding the Magic of Gratitude.
21-Days of Gratitude: Day 18
I’m grateful that we are Acknowledged for every step of faith. Falling only proves that we were willing to take a step into the unknown.

9 Monkey/CHUEN (Cherokee, 9 Raccoon/KVH’LI)
Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. A completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.
Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.
Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoon is full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.

By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you.
