MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Tone 12 raises us to a new Understanding as the Wisdom of our Experience moves from the Head to the Heart. 12 offers a great capacity for retrospection to connect disassociated parts into the Whole of our Understanding.
Monkey/CHUEN is the Weaver of Time and the Master Artist who sees the Beauty in the tapestry of our life. Dog/OC and CHUEN exist together in the center of the Tzolk’in as the two aspects central to the Creator. Dog reflects the loyalty of Unconditional Love, and Monkey is a creator.
Monkey explores life with a sense of curiosity. The Cherokee Day Sign, the Raccoon, is the friendly trickster that coaxes a smile. They remind us not to take ourselves so seriously. Our emotions can be healed by taking on an objective point of view and keeping a sense of humor.
GREEN KIN: ELEMENT OF ETHER
12 Monkey/CHUEN (KIN 51) is a Portal Day that amplifies our experience through a thinning of the veil. These are days when we are most capable to experience our Supernatural Gifts. A Portal will magnify our Gift of Retrospection. We may find it’s just as magical all our Spiritual Gifts.
Monkey sees each experience as a thread of the whole fabric of our lives. We can see it better when we step back to look at the whole picture. If we go back in time to take another look, we’d find the balance between the dark and light. We might also discover that circumstances that seemed impossible to overcome were transformed. Sometimes our obstacles were even Blessings in Disguise. I’ve imagined myself being led to the promised land, kicking and screaming all the way.
Monkey reminds us that we create our own experience. It’s curious how much energy we invest in our fear, and how little we invest in our dreams. The worst things that ever happened in my life took place in my imagination. I’ve imagined the worst outcomes in great detail with no effort at all. I can only wonder what I’d accomplish if I’d spent as much time dreaming of happiness.
Life isn’t fair, and the “other people” who have all the advantages don’t know what they’ve got. The sad truth is we all have advantages over someone else. We’re the “other people” to someone else. It would seem our blessings aren’t nearly as much fun to think about. To be grateful and happy, we have to set an intention and put sticky notes on the mirror – and pray really hard. LOL
We can change the way we remember our experiences. we can travel back in time and see them again through the eyes of the Monkey. If we listed the pros and cons of living, the choice would be easy, all for the hope of another day. My own bad times have only been a fraction of the whole, even with I drag them out in my spare time. We have SO MUCH to be grateful for. We get a brand new beginning every morning. We can start over every day.
The Creator is with us every day, bringing Light, Life, and Happiness. All we have to do is look up.
The Inner Strength we need to share Love with the Whole is found in the simple choice to be Happy. When the problems of the world seem too big, we can remember the actual parameters that we live in. Life seems pretty much the same in the day-to-day experience, even as wars wage on. What a huge blessing and advantage we have, if that’s the only thing we have to claim. What a huge blessing it is if we’re able to take a walk in the Beauty of Mother Earth.
Human is a miraculous creation. There are so many ways we can enrich our own lives in such simple ways. We would never need anything more, if we spent our time using the advantages we already have. The Creator knew we would need a Star to follow every day.
To all my relations, may we see that creating our own Happiness doesn’t require anything more. We already have more. May we go back to the blessings we hold in abundance. May we take an inventory of what’s important and remember we have everything we would ever need. May we remember how blessed we are to wake up to greet the Sun and see the beauty of a new day every morning. May we remember than in the end, we would live one more day just to revel in the sights, smells, and sounds of life on earth. May serve the whole from our own Happiness, offering the Love of Compassion and Happiness for dreams that have already come true.

12 Monkey/CHUEN (Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI)
Galactic Tone 12: Understanding. This number’s energy is a gift of great capability, of retrospection. It is this ability that allows Twelve to connect disassociated parts into a (new) functioning whole. The energy of Twelve is that which presents a new piece of understood information or accumulated experience to be applied.
Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.
Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoons are full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy; magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.
