8 Monkey / CHUEN – Journey of Realization: Day 8 of 13

Happy Maya New Year, WAXAJQIB B’AATZ (8 B’atz)

MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

Greetings Kin,

8 Monkey/CHUEN (8 B’aatz) is celebrated as the New Year in the Quiche/K’iche Maya tradition. On 8 Monkey/CHUEN we receive the Divine Justice that is due to those who count the days as Sacred. This New Year is the Homecoming from a journey of Creation.

In our own climbs to this Time and Place, we re-imagined what a New Seed of our Self could be. Then, we imagined the kind of world we would intend to leave to a new generation. The Monkey/CHUEN trecena inspired the Dream of our Creation. The Seed/KAN trecena offered us the first Experience of it. The Monkey intended us to Know that we Create our own Reality.

We create from the Heart. When our Heart feels the Creator’s Unconditional Love, Human is capable of manifesting its Highest Aspirations. On this New Year, we Identify our Self as a Creator. We Believe in the Truth that will change our future.

On WAXAJQIB B’AATZ the Mayan priest observes the Sacred Fire Ceremony. Daykeepers who completed their instruction and made the journey to all the altars are called forward for an Initiation of Spirit. The Elders traditionally offer the Daykeeper the bag of 260 Sacred Red Beans. The Mayan priest leads the Count of Days. The Quiche Maya begin with 1 Monkey/CHUEN. First the Blessing is given to the Direction, and to the Element of Chuen – Water than holds the Ether of Spirit. The count proceeds, 1 Monkey/CHUEN, 2 Monkey/CHUEN, 3 Monkey/CHUEN… completing the Blessings for each of the 20 Day Signs, and the Count of their Kin.

In the Count of Days, every Human’s Destiny is spoken by Name. And, in the Count we each hear our Own Name Called for the Blessing. On 8 Monkey/CHUEN we receive the Divine Justice that is due to the Creators of Love. Honoring the 260-days of the Tzolk’in, Human’s Intentions of Creation and all our ways of being, we WERE Honoring one another.

8 Monkey/CHUEN offers the potential for mystical experience. We can Know the Divinity of a Calendar that was teaching us to understand that there are many perspectives. Each one holds its own Wisdom and Discernment. One Human’s Truth never has to threaten our own. In reaching for something Higher for our Self, we were also learning how Happy we would ALL be following our Divine Instincts. ALLOWING All Love to be, our Kin would be drawn into the same herd of Love. We would find the Divine Family that Sees us and Acknowledges us, and Human would Know their own Divine Family… the ones singing the same Tune of Love.

I was afraid of 7 Dog/OC. I was remembering a not so pleasant 7 Dog/OC before. This one was different. I realized that all the broken dreams of Love I was projecting onto 7 Dog/OC were the Emotions of 6 Offering/MULUC. I had the momentum to turn to the altar, by the Truth of all the ways I’m broken.

7 Dog/OC WAS a day of Heart-Breaking Love. In the Pacific Northwest we celebrated blue sunny skies at 70 F. I dreaded an early errand to the post office, and found myself outside in the MOST BEAUTIFUL WORLD. Life was swirling with beauty and love. As I was driving back through the parking lot, a small child was walking alone to the school bus stop. He stopped in his tracks to yield the right of way, clearly indicating he wasn’t going to take another step until I’d passed by. I saw the symbol of a Mother’s Love. I saw the Love of a child that Saw and Heard the Love and Remembered. He did it with such an Intention. (Maybe children CAN hear “I Love you” when we yell at them to get out of the street.)

When I came through the door, Shadow was waiting, and birds were singing on the balcony. A family of finch returned to the nest that was built last year. They actually returned on the same Kin of the last round, early on the planetary cycle.  It hardly seemed like winter was over. I haven’t even started to create a flower garden. Though the balcony view was the most Beautiful sight to see, untouched by a human hand.

A Supreme Creator intended the Love to Grow in Us. The one who imagined us, wanted to know us from the day we were born, through an entire lifetime, and forever in eternity. When we know the WHOLE Truth of the Purpose, we’ll clearly see we never could have done it alone. How could we even imagine that?

Our Greatest Revelation of Spirit is the Truth that it wasn’t left to Human Hands. We were given a Hand to Know we can grasp hold of a Promise and Believe. We already KNEW we could create anything if we only believed the Creator Intended to finish the Masterpiece as Divine. Today we know that every Masterpiece we create will bear both our Names.

7 Dog/OC IS the Breakthrough of Love, at least that’s how I’d forecast it in the future for every time it falls in synchronicity with the Zenithal Sun. On a Day of Pure Spirit, Monkey opens our eyes to the Signs and Symbols of Love and Creation. This is a day we are changed when we turn around and see them in the Light.

YOU are a symbol of LOVE to me for sharing this Time and Place. I was backed into my “alone corner” for so long, I couldn’t imagine a way out of it. YOU were the Miracle Intervention of my dream. In my “last desperate attempt” to find a meaning and purpose I never expected to find you. My pillars have been upheld by all the Love shining all around. I imagine you in all the far off places you are, and give thanks that somehow our ways led us here together.

TODAY, 8 Monkey/CHUEN, is Dog’s Day celebrated with the Monkey/CHUEN. They were the pals from the beginning that knew they were smarter than they looked. They were probably in the corner watching us chase our tails to Create Love, laughing, because they knew the Miracle would happen when we finally gave up.

The Creator’s Highest Intention was for all things to be Balanced by the Justice of Harmony and Equality. Those are two very different things. Harmony doesn’t mean “the same.” Harmony is a sympathetic correspondence between two different things. The only thing simpatico between the Dog and the Monkey is the pleasure of one another’s company in the Joy of Life.

When Human holds both the Gifts of Dog and Monkey, we hold the Consciousness to Create Love. We are changed by the Signs and Symbols that Love is multiplying by itself. We only lost hope in the chaos BETWEEN one thing and another.

Monkey is the Master Artist and the Weaver of Time. Monkey can weave all the threads of our experience into the Beauty and Tapestry of our Life. Every time Dog/OC brings home a new Gift of Love, you can count on Monkey to follow the trail back to its source out of curiosity. Monkey has a Meaning and Purpose for Love as the Passion to Create.

The Elders talked about the importance of these Initiation Ceremonies, and also how we are often scattered apart without the Spiritual Community who could offer the Blessing. They said it was Right, Good, and Worthy in such cases to Initiate our Self. All things were intended equally. There is always a Divine Provision.

I will mark the day with some flowers for the altar and 20 candles in a circle, one for each of the Day Signs. On my first initiation I wore a prayer shawl. After smudging myself and the altar I spent a moment Seeing the Journey. I always see myself coming home along a dirt path. I notice the Day Signs were ALL walking with me. Up ahead, I smell the smoke of the Fire and the Prayers of Sacred Ceremony. Spirits were waiting to celebrate the journey. I say my own prayers, hold my own beans and count the days.  I’ll be listening as I count each one of you.

I’ve been so dis-essembled in the cocoon, it’s felt safer to stay inside. Every time I came out early, it seemed something went terribly wrong. Even my new glasses haven’t seemed to be working so well. So has my whole organization dissolved into disarray. It’s comparable to the finch home after the deposits of a second season. Our Vision of a Miracle was waiting for the Creator’s final touch.

To all my relations, may we look around and see all the Beauty and Love we created through the Intentions of our Dream. May we see how we’ve learned to turn away from all the worldly illusions to see enough Beauty to last a lifetime. May we Know that Creation offered Human a way to go to any Time and Place of the Experience and Know it all over again. The Love we couldn’t find, through Creation we can go back to look again. From a Higher Consciousness next time, we’ll find it.

When I greet the Sunrise, I’ll remember the Elders who offered a way. I’ll remember those who walked on, believing in all the unlimited possibilities that we will be together again. I’ll look to the Sun to see its Symbols of Life, Light, and Happiness and plant some of my love for you, so you can see the Signs when the Sun comes around to you.

Happy New Year.

in lak’ech, i am another you

Galactic Tone 8:  Justice. Harmony and balance are the intent of Eights carefully weighs all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement ‘as above, so below,’ from simplicity to infinity, the energy of eight organizes all levels of creation, some eights are ‘neat freaks.’

Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.

Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoons are full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy; magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.
