Happy Maya New Year, WAXAJQIB B’AATZ (8 B’atz)
Greetings Beloved Kin,
Today marks another end and beginning. We were given the Sacred Right of Choice to rise from the ashes of our past. The way of the Mayan calendars is a Choice to Count the Days and honor every one as a Sacred Event. With every Sunrise we are offered a New Day to Live Again.
The Elders always said that you can change your life in 4 days of Sacred Ceremony. It only takes 4 days of retreat from the world to Remember the Truth of your Divine Identity. It only takes 13 days to see there’s a Divine Meaning and Purpose for Time that leads to the Truth of Answered Prayers.
In the language of the Maya, WAXAJQIB is the Number 8 that means “pure spirit.” The Tzolk’in New Year is a celebration of the Hero’s journey. Since the first round, I’ve imagined the return surrounded by all the “lords of the Day” that were with us every day, and a welcome party waiting to see us turn the last corner.
This is the Monkey’s party. The Sacred Ancestors that have “been there and done that” before are the ones waiting with open arms. For all the Monkey business it takes to find our way back home, they are the Ones who want to hear the WHOLE story and see every battle scar. That’s the heroes story.
I’ll be crafting all night, but later in the day I’ll share the birthday cake I bought in YOUR honor with the candles and flowers set for the celebration at my dining room table. (I’ll be thinking of you when I slice myself a piece of the cake.) Before I do, I’ll call out your name among the whole. I can’t remember the last party I’ve attended, and this one is going to be swell. You’re all the guests of honor for all the ways you’ve blessed my life. I intend to make a fool of myself, home alone, where you can imagine the monkey business I’ll carry on for you. (I used to get my kicks dancing when I was alone in elevators at work, then stepping out like a normal person when the doors opened. That was before there were surveillance cameras.)
Wishing you a very happy new beginning and many returns,
love, in lak’ech, Debra

8 Monkey/CHUEN (8 B’aatz), Destiny Kin 151

Greetings Kin,
8 Monkey/CHUEN (8 B’atz) marks “the beginning of the world” under the Intention of Divine Justice. Monkey/CHUEN is exalted in the zenith Hour of Light.
The first New Year was marked by the K’iche tradition in the South, and carries on in Harmony in the North. Each medicine wheel turns in an opposite direction, and the oldest wasn’t numbered Destiny Kin #1. Destiny Kin #131 is the first day of the round by K’iche count, on 1 Monkey/CHUEN.
The New Year marks the Beginning of Human’s transformation to Higher Consciousness. Every Divine Transformation begins on Tone 8. This Holy Day is a Celebration of Knowing the world is ours to Create, and we were given the Beauty in every Direction as the Muse for our Life’s Masterpiece.
The New Year manifests the Truth of ALL the Divine Ones we can choose to be. Every 260 days, Time is split apart between the darkness and the light of Truth. The darkness raised the question of Consciousness to Light. Turning the other way from 1 Monkey/CHUEN, the K’iche celebrate the Wisdom we are Born Knowing. They face the darkness with the Innocence of Love, to know there’s a way and the end will lead to the Harmony of Right Relationship. Either way, 8 Monkey/CHUEN marks a Special Time of Harmony and the Divine Justice that honors each and everyone in the Here and Now.
8 Monkey/CHUEN is the Truth of Human’s Divine Power of Consciousness, and a Celebration of all the Love we’ve seen on the way. It’s a day to go back to where we started again, since we hold Monkey’s gift of ALL Time. The Monkey’s curiosity for Life is the Mystery, how we figure it out. CHUEN is the alchemist engaged in a Divine Experiment to turn our Heart to Gold. Through the Element of Water, CHUEN reveals the Power and Mystery of the Human Spirit, drawn Higher by Light and Love. The “matter” of a seed is as humble as a piece of dirt, though it’s held together with Love inside for a Life that is waiting to be. Every day given is the Gift for tomorrow.
What’s changed since a year ago? (Last Summer.) What was the chaos and the Big Truth then? Did it change our life? How about the last Tzolk’in New Year, October 11, 2020? Was that the Time things turned around? The Gregorian New Year in January? Or, was it in March, the Haab New Year, when we finally had the vaccine? By all the calendar counts it would be hard to pin-point the change that turned our thoughts from death to a new life, just beyond our door. The Monkey knows it happens every day, and it never looks the same when we see it all at once at the end.
Every other living thing was given the Moment. Human Beings were given the Consciousness of Time to conceive a Divine Meaning and Purpose. There is a Time for every purpose, and One given to share the Meaning of Time for every place – from the Heart of the All-in-One and the Same. Moments were given for Human to Feel the Truth at the Same Time.
It takes a little human Monkey Business from each and every one of us to find a path to the Dream our Heart will never let go. In the Zenith Light of the Creator’s Consciousness we see the Debt of Love we owe to each and every one, for all the possibilities we conceive through one another. Every One raised the Dream of Love we Love the most. Somewhere in the darkness where we can’t see, a Divine One sees what WE dream Love to be.
CHUEN resides in the West, the direction of another journey into the darkness of the Unknown. The ones who choose to follow the Count of Days, always begin in good company, in harmony with the Whole.
The Sacred Fires are built by all the Mayan priests in Celebration of the Living Water of Life, held by the 2-leggeds that walk the Earth. The Living Ones are the Vessel for the Whole. Ones that reminded us of Love, create a place for everyone. Every Dog wants a “forever home” – a place to bring their treasure. Today, we all belong to one another, given our own Day, all celebrated in Harmony with the One. The Gift is Time to Dream the Future.
Every 260 Destiny Kin is Counted at the New Year, calling every One by Name. Your name will be called at the sacred ceremonies throughout the Maya lands today, with prayers for another Happy Return.
This is a Day we celebrate the Consciousness to see our Common Monkey Business. Sharing songs of Auld Lang Syne, we can raise a glass to anyone who will “Try to Remember” to love each other better the next time around. A Vow would be too easy to forget, while we’re busy creating a “hard life” out of Paradise.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
If your heart is called to ANY place in Time, LOOK AROUND. The HIGHEST SENSE we hold is hidden in ALL our OWN Truth of Time. I’ve noticed that a particular Time in my life has been the Source of many thoughts and memories raised to Consciousness. The only thing that one thought had to do with another was the Time. I still don’t know everything it means. A question of Time raised to consciousness means it may be time to Remember when Love saved your life, yet you were claimed the Hero for reaching to save yourself. The hand we are reaching for in our dreams, may be our own.
To all my relations, may we give thanks for ALL the ways we see, when we begin again from where we are. We don’t have to fix ONE THING about today. It may be the One Day we don’t WANT to be any better than it already is, for the Day in the Future we will see it again from Holy Ground.
May we LOVE the MESS WE’RE IN, like a mud pie – a perfect Time to start from scratch to see how we grow out of it, smelling like a rose. Today is a Divine Initiation for those who choose to count each day sacred, beginning from a Day when we Feel the Truth.
If we get called back in time to some old sad story, may we really step in to the Time and Place to know it doesn’t hurt anymore.
Now it feels like Divine Justice, and a mystery of Love that will unravel in the future.
Happy New Year!
When your name is called, remember, How beautiful You Really Are.

8 Monkey/CHUEN (Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI)
Galactic Tone 8: Justice. Harmony and balance are the intent of Eights carefully weighs all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement ‘as above, so below,’ from simplicity to infinity, the energy of eight organizes all levels of creation, some eights are ‘neat freaks.’
Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.
Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoons are full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy; magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.
