13 Reed / BEN
Greetings Beloved Kin,
Reed/BEN is the Creator’s Guiding Light for family and home on behalf of the children. We were given a Sanctuary within where we always belong. The glyph illustrates an altar where Two channels of Light shine from Above. Below are the thatched prayer mats for the “Two-Below” to kneel together as One.
The Reed is a symbol of the “hollow bone.” The channel is opened when all the flesh is burned away by an Intention of Humility. We are drawn to “see the light” when we surrender to the Truth of Human limitations.
Tone 13 marks our Ascension and the Answer to a Prayer. 13 Reed/BEN was the Guardian of this cycle, and the promise to manifest the End from the Beginning. Love is a Choice inspired by the Light of every Sunrise. When we reach to the Highest One to guide the way, we will always receive the Light to find our way through to the Creator’s Highest End.
Reed holds the Element of Fire, the Passion to Live in Faith and the Power of Transmutation that changes us. Home is the place where we hold the power to close the door, where we are Free to Be who we are, and where every member has an equal place at the table.
The children can teach us a thing or two. They still believe in Miracles. They witness the Truth without a filter from the sincere desire to know everything and the Reason Why. Children are determined to figure out the Truth for themselves. The Truth the children discover is our Hope for the Future. Their base measure is the end of Happiness and the Security of Love.

Sign of Answered Prayers: 13:13
Reed/BEN’s position 13 and Tone 13 magnify the Truth of Answered Prayers.
Children are only satisfied by Truth that makes sense. They are wise enough to see Love that’s Truth from the beginning. BEN raises our Intention to walk-the-walk for what the children will see. As the leader of a family we are intended to be a living demonstration of our Highest Way.
BEN reminds us that we can’t “pound our Truth and our way” into someone else’s head. We were all born into the Light to figure it out for our self. The Truth that matters is different for every Time and Place. The children are our Hope to Know the way of the future. BEN’s adage is to share the Truth like a “garden hose” and not a “steel pipe.” The children are our only hope for the future. They are intended to know more than we do.
The Truth of Answered Prayers is the Light that shines in harmony and equity for the whole. The children want to walk in our grown-up shoes. If we turn to an altar, the children will follow us to the place where the Truth speaks to every heart that asks to know.
13 Reed/BEN is our 1st Initiation to the Truth of a Power Greater than our Self. The “truth that is” will always hold a place of Higher Authority, no matter what our parents say. We were born to claim our Own Life and find our Own Way.
At our Ascension we see how far we’ve come. For all the challenges, we see the Truth of Higher Ground. The Truth inspires us to try again, or to begin something new. We want to see how much farther we could go from the Truth of Higher Ground. Every Ascension of Consciousness is based on the Truth we learned before. Our last Ascension was 13 Sun/AHAU, the Highest Truth of Answered Prayers that created a Seed of Faith for a New Life. Our first lesson was to remember the Source of Love that will always be.
The Time is ordered for a celebration of the Creator’s Divine Way of Loving every Life in Harmony and Equity. Checking in on the neighbors is the Maya’s tradition on Reed/BEN. When we share “love like family” there will always be an open door where we are welcomed in. BEN creates the way to Love our Self by Loving One Another.
The Greatest Commandment and the Law of Love:
Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
May we end the way we began at an altar in Humility for the Greatest Love of All. May we claim our place around the Creator’s table as the children of God. May we Ask to Know to “See the Light.”

May we define the boundaries of the Creator’s Love as the “Home” and Peace beyond all Human Understanding.

This is a day to remember WE CAN, when we humble our self to the Highest One. “God helps those who help themselves.” May we “help our self” to the Love that knows no end, and give back and pay forward the blessing.
Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’
love, in lak’ech, i am another you

Crocodile/IMIX is the first trecena in the first season of the Tzolk’in round, found in Volume 1. The guide includes the overview for each trecena and the aspects for every day, so you can discern the Meaning of Time as it applies to your own Time and Place. It’s interesting to calculate the major dates in your life. You might discover they happened on the same Tzolk’in date. The calendar is written within. The Order is what we are naturally inclined to do. When you keep a daily journal to track your thoughts, you’ll see history repeat itself when the same matters are on your mind on the same day of every Tzolk’in round, only on a higher scale. One time around I overcame a fear of driving through Seattle rush-hour traffic. The next time, I was overcoming my fear to make a solo pilgrimage to the Mayan ruins of Ek’ Balam.

13 Reed/BEN (Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA) – Day 13 of 13, 1 Crocodile/IMIX trecena
Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom and Tzolk’in calculator preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 13: Ascension; Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.
Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peace, harmony and order to all o their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a lot of appreciation, may have marriage or business problems because of inflexible views and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson for Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe.
A GOOD DAY TO: Bless and repair our house.
Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini. Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind. A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.
