COMPLETE PARHELIC CIRCLE: May 7th was a special day for atmospheric optics in England. First, John Dartnell of North Wiltshire looked up and saw an oval sun halo. Then, Andy Burns of Chippenham saw the same oval plus a complete parhelic circle. It’s the giant ring at the top of this wide-angle photo:

 

Parhelic circles go completely around the sky–akin to the ring around a dirty bathtub–always at the same altitude as the sun. “This was a super halo, over 100 degrees wide,” says Burns.

Like all sun halos, parhelic circles are formed by ice crystals in high clouds. However, these giant pale circles are unlike other halos in one important way: They rely on many kinds of reflections (internal, external, single, double, triple and more). “The parhelic circle appears simple, yet more ray paths contribute to it than in any other ice halo,” notes atmospheric optics expert Les Cowley.

SOVIET VENUS PROBE UPDATE: The Soviet Union’s old Kosmos 482 Venus probe (which never reached Venus) is returning to Earth today. Best estimates predict a reentry on May 10th at 06:35 +/- 3.7h UTC. If reentry happens around 6:00 UTC, it will be over Europe in morning daylight. Check Marco Langbroek’s blog for updates.

It is unlikely that the parachute system will work after more than 50 years in space, so this will be a crash landing. How bad will it be? Details of the descent craft have been lost to history. Langbroek believes it is about 1 meter in diameter with a mass of ~495 kg (1091.29 lbs). It won’t do major damage, but you wouldn’t want to be standing where it lands.

Where it lands depends on when it lands – “anywhere between 52 degrees north and 52 degrees south latitude; this includes much of south and mid-latitude Europe and Asia, as well as the Americas, Africa and Australia. (An ocean landing is most likely.”

The 3rd Tone and the 3rd Position mark 3 Night/AKBAL with the Master Number 33, the Master Teacher who actualizes the Wisdom of the Truth. We can add 3 more 3’s in the Gregorian year of 9 (2+0+2+5). The two are woven together when we empower one another for the purpose of Divine Trinity.

Galactic Tone 3: Action. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rhythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.

Night/Akbal: Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurities and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled. These persons travel the Void. a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells, the womb of creation. From this void, Night persons bring forth new solutions and artistic inspiration. Night’s voyages of dreams build confidence and happiness with a sense of well being. If night does not bravely journey into the void they may find themselves wandering the darkness of self doubt and insecurity.

A GOOD DAY TO: Spend some time contemplating the stars.

Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA: Hearth’s symbol is the fire pit in the Center, velvet black as the night. The triangle in Orion. The M42 nebula (home of the Central race from the WingMakers) in the center of the triangle of Orion is the fire in the Hearth, also matching the Mayan. The Hearth is the Torchbearer who holds the light and warmth throughout the night, much as the Owl described above.  Belief is so strong that the surrounding elements become entrained to their rhythm and all resistance falls away. With respect and honor of intuition combined with knowledge this energy creates the magic of the center in this dimension.
