“3I” Stands for 3rd Interstellar Visitor

1I/ʻOumuamua was the 1st ever discovered in 2027, and 2I/Borisov was discovered in 2019. Two Novas at Once is another first in recorded history. Appearing 13-days apart, the 1st (V462 Lupi) appeared on June 12, 2025 in the constellation Lupus, and the 2nd (V572 Velorum) on June 25, 2025 in Vela. Star T CrB could nova could make it 3 any day now.

COMET 3I/ATLAS HAS REACHED MARS: Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS is approaching Mars for a close encounter on October 3rd. The Mars Fleet is ready. “We’re about to get our best-ever look at an interstellar comet,” says physicist T. Marshall Eubanks from Space Initiatives Inc, who is helping coordinate the international spacecraft teams.

 

As many as 6 spacecraft could get a close-up view: NASA’s MAVEN and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, ESA’s Mars Express and ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter, the UAE’s Hope probe, and China’s Tianwen-1.

Because 3I/ATLAS is now invisible from Earth as it swings behind the sun (a blackout that will last until December) Martian spacecraft may provide the only high-quality spectra and images of the comet at its brightest. “The fleet at Mars could deliver the definitive dataset,” write Eubanks and colleagues, who authored a new study urging space agencies to seize this opportunity.

When the comet passes Mars on Oct. 3rd, it will be almost bright enough to see with human eyes–about magnitude +6.7, according to Eubanks. If only humans were there to see it. Spacecraft will have to do all the work. The comet will be 0.195 AU (29 million km) from the Red Planet, giving the orbiting fleet a ringside seat.

Of all the cameras involved, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter’s HiRISE will deliver the sharpest images: 29 km per pixel. HiRISE should resolve the comet’s atmosphere (coma) with more than 850 pixels. Researchers will be on the edge of their seats to see if the camera can also glimpse the nucleus hidden within the gas cloud. Photographing the core could put to rest internet rumors that it is “alien tech.”

For Eubanks, getting the maximum amount of data is a labor of love. “I have worked on this very intensively since July,” says Eubanks. “As my wife would tell you, we have no funding source for this.”

Have you seen the Signs of “never seen before” in your life? There have been a lot of firsts like we’ve never seen before. One thing is for sure. “Never seen before” attracts our attention and we are prepared to see. Anything that attracts our attention becomes the next “recommended” topic in the algorithm. Attention-grabbing headlines include sources prepared to take advantage.

The Elders taught us to “normalize” exceptional events. All God’s ways are beyond our understanding. God has a Hand in the Universe every Day. When we witness something once, we know the Unknown can happen again. We start looking for the Unknown instead of drawing upon our own human experience of reality.

Consider the scale of “first ever seen” experiences in your life. The future is bound to be changed on a scale we’ve never seen before. We can’t pay attention to anything without learning from it. 3I/ATLAS doesn’t have to be an alien spaceship to change everything we thought we knew about The Creation.

Yom Kippur 2025 (the Day of Atonement): October 1–2, 2025

Yom Kippur fast day is the holiest day of the year—when we are closest to G‑d and to the quintessence of our own souls. It is the Day of Atonement—“For on this day He will forgive you, to purify you, that you be cleansed from all your sins before G‑d” (Leviticus 16:30). This year, Yom Kippur is observed from several minutes before sunset on 9 Tishrei (Oct. 1) to after nightfall on 10 Tishrei (Oct. 2).

For nearly twenty-six hours, we “afflict our souls”: we abstain from food and drink, do not wash or anoint our bodies, do not wear leather footwear, and abstain from marital relations. Instead our time is spent in prayer to G‑d. (Source: Chabad.org)
