SPACEWEATHER: Universal Light for the Future

M7-Class Solar Flare, CME, and Peak Day for Quadrantid Meteor Shower

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 01/01/2026

STRONG SOLAR FLARE AND CME: A CME is heading for Earth following today’s M7-class solar flare from sunspot 4324. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the explosion’s extreme ultraviolet flash at 13:50 UTC:

First-look images from NOAA’s CCOR-1 coronagraph show a halo CME heading roughly toward Earth. G2 to G3-class geomagnetic storms are possible when the CME arrives on Jan. 2nd. Stay tuned for an improved forecast as more coronagraph data become available to improve the models.

NOTE: G3-class storms have produced some spectacular auroras in the past.

THE NEW YEAR MIGHT BEGIN WITH GEOMAGNETIC STORMS: At least one CME will hit Earth during the opening days of 2026. NOAA forecasters believe that one or two CMEs might deliver glancing blows on Jan. 1st, followed by an almost-direct-hit CME on Jan. 2nd or 3rd. If all of them hit, the combined effect of the CMEs could add up to a G2-class geomagnetic storm. Aurora visibility will be mitigated by the glare from this week’s full Wolf Moon.

Quadrantids 2026: The First Meteor Shower of the Year

StarWalk Astronomical News: 01/01/2026

The Quadrantids are considered one of the top three meteor showers by potential intensity. Unfortunately, in 2026, their peak coincides with the Full Moon, which will wash out most meteors. Still, dedicated observers may catch a few bright ones!

Quadrantids 2026: When and where to see

  • Active: December 28 – January 12
  • Peak of activity: January 3
  • Meteors/hour: 80 (only ≈10 visible due to Full Moon)
  • Moon illumination: 100%
  • Radiant location: Constellation Bootes (Overhead)
  • Parent body: Asteroid 2003 EH1
  • Best visible from: Northern Hemisphere
  • Description: The Quadrantids are one of the year’s strongest meteor showers, capable of producing over 100 meteors per hour. Known for their bright fireballs, they put on a dazzling but short-lived show in early January.

Quadrantids 2026: Visibility forecast

In 2026, the Quadrantid meteor shower will peak on January 3, under the bright light of the Full Moon. This makes the observing conditions poor, as moonlight will wash out most faint meteors. Still, a few bright fireballs may be visible if you manage to block the Moon’s glare with a building, tree, or hill.

What time is the Quadrantid meteor shower 2026?

The Quadrantids are known for their sharp, short-lived peak — only about six hours long. In 2026, the peak is expected around 21:00 GMT on January 3. If the shower’s radiant is already high in your sky at that time, consider yourself lucky — you’ll catch the best part of the show.

Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment. At the center of the cube we find Five. Five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives are natural networkers who gather what is needed. These persons can probe directly to the core of any situation making them excellent investigators.

Storm/Cauac: Day of the blessing of rain, giver of all life and lightening, a gift of nitrogen to Mother Earth and ozone to Father Sky. Cauac is also associated with the moon and the cycles of the moon, which are the meter of the feminine aspect of creation. The essence of Storm is the feeling of unity, security and warmth experienced in the home while the tempest of trouble rages in the world outside. Perpetually youthful, Storms exist to experience the ecstasy of freedom. They have the great capacity to both learn and teach. Their constant quest for novel experiences often leads to difficult tests and storms of emotion. Looking at these difficulties for the lessons they indeed are, will enrich our lives rather than destroy. Cauac individuals teach much through their electricity of being. Lightning energizes earth, this same energy energizes humans. Divine connections can be accessed.

A GOOD DAY TO: Count your lessons as blessings and your enemies as angels.

Cherokee, Redbird/TOTSU’HWA: Redbird is a feminine sign; the hand that rocks the cradle. The symbol of nurturing, the lightning nurtures and energizes, with energy for zest, curiosity, imagination, and ideas. Lightning adds spiritual force to the human by way of “lightning of the blood” of a healer, directly body to body vibration. The key to spiritual communication and access to the wisdom of the Ancestors lies in the ability to bestir the blood to speak.
