21 Days of Gratitude, Day 3

7 Dog/OC (Cherokee Wolf/ Kana’ti)

Galactic Tone 7: Reflective; stands as a mirror to reflect dark from light and all that is and is not; associated with the source of creation and the flow divine will.

Dog/OC/Wolf: Dog is courageous, loyal and warmhearted, respected for their sense of justice and protection. The power of the wolf brings forth instinct, intelligence, appetite for freedom, and awareness of the importance of social connections.

Don’t ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Howard Thurman

7 Dog/OC lends awareness of and a desire to connect with our community – to see ourselves as a meaningful part of a greater whole. Seeking to find belonging, how many times do we look outside ourselves to measure who we are? Remembering to seek within that which brings me joy reminds me that I was never disconnected.

Today I am grateful for the beauty of the natural world around me. I can’t solve the problems of the world, but I can hold one space in love for all that is.

21 Days of Gratitude, Day 2

Since yesterday’s post suggested 21 Days of Gratitude, I took my own advice and will be sharing these 21 Days with you… this is Day TWO!   Jaguar Woman

6 Offering/Muluc/Moonoffering2

Galactic Tone 6: Six is responsiveness and the art of negotiation. It is the movement of volume through space that creates time. This energy in action is like the art of dance or a great athlete in motion. Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.

Offering/Muluc is also known as the sign of water. Ceremonially, Maya use water as an offering in baptisms and purifications. These ceremonies are done to bring about a collective strength, adaptability and harmony. In sincere appreciation, Offering people gladly give more than they ask for themselves. Offering persons are dynamic communicators with great intelligence. Like a shaken vessel of water Offering people regain equilibrium quickly.  Mayan Majix

Mitakuye Oyasin, All my Relations

In the traditional ways of the Medicine Circle a Sacred Offering would be preceded by honoring all that have gone before, the Grandfathers, Grandmothers, as well as the Great Spirit, the Four Directions, the Above and Below. In humility, one would establish the intention that the Offering be given in a most respectful way.

Muluc/Offering can stir the emotions as it relates to water and the Moon. At the core of Offering is another opportunity for gratitude, expressed as humility. We are who we are because of all that is and all that has gone before – every person and every experience was important to our becoming.

Make an offering and give thanks in the name of… all that you are grateful for.

5 Lamat/Star/Rabbit – Multiplying Empowerment

5 Lamat/Rabbit

Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment
Star/Lamat/Rabbit: Power of Multiplication

Five is an intelligent organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Lamat as sign of the “star” shines in all directions. As rabbit, Lamat brings multiplication of all things to abundance.

All things to abundance… we manifest that which we give our attention to.

Gratitude is among the most powerful spirit tools we can use to change our lives. What if we chose to multiply our gratitude?

One of the proven and worthy tools offered through Medicine Circle teachings is a ceremony of 21-days of gratitude. The Mayans practiced similar ceremony leading up to special dates on the calendar.

It’s simple – for 21 days, start the day in gratitude and return your thoughts to gratitude when you become conscious of them wandering elsewhere. Instead of praying for what you want, pray in gratitude for what you already have.

Keep a Gratitude Journal for 21 days and choose your own ceremony – whether it’s lighting a candle, making an offering, or greeting the sunrise. The real power of ceremony is not in the action but in remembering that action was taken.

“Be grateful for what you have and you’ll end up having more. Focus on what you don’t have and you will never have enough.”

4 Deer/Manik – What gifts do we bring to our world?

4 Deer/MANIK

4 is the cube, the most stable of all forms, and the establishment of volume by definition. The four directions give orientation to any form as the height, length, depth and breadth give shape to any form. The energy of Four sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, work, or relationship.

Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations.

What gifts do you bring to the world?

Among the greatest of human needs is to be seen and acknowledged. This is a time to take stock in both how we see ourselves, and how we are seen (or not seen) by those we choose to surround us. Under the Seed/KAN trecena we are drawn into the creation of redefining ourselves. At the same time, the New Moon in Libra highlights our desire for right relationships.

Taking stock in ourselves…

Often it’s too easy to hold ourselves to standards we would never impose on someone else. Holding high standards guarantees we must strive with some effort to meet them. So, the challenge is to acknowledge our intentions above our own shortfalls.

How we are measured by others…

I once heard friendship defined like this – ‘You have a meltdown at the grocery store and make a huffy remark to the cashier. If you’ve brought a real friend along, they are likely to find the humor in the incident versus make a character judgment.’ (Who we are is demonstrated by far more than how we respond in a given moment or under a singular set of circumstances.)

Any time we make a character judgment we are taking limited information to impose an inaccurate assessment of someone else. By their nature, character judgments are simply the assessment of ‘me good’ and ‘you bad.’ We can’t measure our own worth accurately, based on the comparison of anyone else. And, just as we want to be seen in our integrity – that’s also how we must be willing to see others.

We can make the choice to leave behind those relationships where interactions leave us feeling we are less than who we are. We can speak our truth and negotiate our needs, but in the end, we can’t make someone change. We CAN choose to limit our exposure. (And, we can leave without saying “I’m leaving you – and here’s why…” We can just leave to move on to something better.)

Until we take the time to discover how we feel about ourselves based on our own Truth and in the light of our ability to uphold our right intentions, we might more easily find ourselves hoping ‘not to be found out’ for our shortcomings – than truly seeking to be seen and acknowledged for who we are.

3 Transformer/CIMI – Transformational Movement

3 Transformer/CIMI (Cherokee Twins Takato’ka)

Galactic Tone 3: Movement
Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”.

Transformer/CIMI: Transform, Life, Death, Rebirth
Cycle of life, death and rebirth; Transformer persons achieve goals and emotional wealth. Transformer people can become highly respected business persons. They have the ability to help others through any and all transitions with tranquility due to their spiritual strength and guidance. Communities often benefit from Transformers discipline and organization skills. They strengthen the life of pregnant women and guide them through the transitions of maternity. Establishing contact with the ancestors activates innate psychic abilities, gifts to be used as tools to assist others.  ~Mayan Majix

Transformational Movement

Any change we hope to effect in our lives requires movement and every movement is transformational. We cannot move to a new position without being changed by it.

Though, the real power lies in assigning movements to our deepest intentions. “Why” we do things matters. So much energy in our lives can be spent moving without any intention… we can find ourselves ‘going through the motions’ of our everyday lives without any purpose or direction that is personally meaningful.

This trecena was begun under the sign of 1 Seed/KAN and is a powerful time embodying inherent potential, germination, dynamic emergence, sexual maturity, and gratitude leading to abundance. Because this trecena is so rich with potential it calls us to acknowledge who we are and what gifts we have to bring to serve the whole.

3 CIMI/Transformation offers us an opportunity to work with transformational movement of all kinds.  Consider how you may initiate movement toward the desired changes in your life. The beauty of it is that any movement backed by intention carries us exponentially forward.

Wheels are easier to turn, when they’re already moving.

12 Offering/MULUC – A Blessing at the Delta

12 Offering/MULUC (Cherokee The River Yun’wi Gunnahi’ta)

The DeltaGalactic Tone 12: Understanding and the gift of retrospection
Offering/Muluc: A symbol of water everywhere as in the rain, the oceans, or in the body; the sign of Sacred water ceremonies such as baptism and purification

The River/Yun’wi Gunnahi’ta: In Cherokee, The River is the “Fountain of Life”, giver of all fluids, water, rain, tears; the Milky Way is also referred to as The River

Water symbolizes purity, healing, and cleansing used ceremonially as a way of clearing the emotional body to become ready for transformational energies at the next level.

Water has the ability to hold our spiritual energetic. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese author and researcher, illustrated how human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water, supporting his theory that water can be embued with spiritual intention and purpose.

Symbolically, a River represents the flow of time and the natural cycles, transitions, transformations and passageways. Once the River has completed its long journey it empties into the sea. The point at which the River enters the sea is called its Delta. The Delta is a triangular area which forms at the mouth of the River. The word Delta is derived from a Greek symbol, also in the shape of a triangle, which means “Change”. Upon passing through Its Delta the River “Changes” – its individuality comes to an end as It merges with all of the other Rivers, which have also ended their long Journeys, to become part of the One Great Sea. http://www.aseekersthoughts.com/2009/07/rivers-as-symbol-part-1.html

Give thanks in the way of an offering.

Native American Blessing

A way opens before you. All obstacles and impediments are removed.

Only that which is worthy and desirable moves forward with you.

11 Lamat/Star/Rabbit – The Gift of Multiplication

11 Star/Rabbit, Lamat/Q’anil (Cherokee Rabbit Noqui’segwa)

Ralph Waldo Emerson QuoteGalactic Tone 11: Eleven assists every new creation to find its place in the universe. In the process of ‘fitting in’ some modifications must occur. Eleven is the energy of dynamic actions that facilitate change, simplification and improvement.

Lamat/Star/Rabbit: Star energy is the multiplication of all things to abundance. Star is associated with the fertility of rabbits for its ability to multiply. Lamat correlates with fertility and new beginnings. It symbolizes transforming into a new you so you can live a life of creation, abundance and love. The symbol for Lamat represents the planet Venus. The Mayan culture associated the planet Venus with death and rebirth. Mayan Magix

Rabbits are teaming with life and multiplication. This can be a very good thing – giving extra power to your intentions. With the energy of Lamat/Rabbit whatever you focus on is multiplied. Since Lamat multiplies ANYTHING, it also presents a caution to focus on what you want – not what you don’t want.

The Cherokee calendar notes this as an emotional sign, so at the same time, unresolved issues could present challenges. We live in a society that says we need to feel good all the time. This mind-set can lead to feelings of inadequacy when I feel otherwise. We don’t treat a headache that way, so why would I have to frame other uncomfortable feelings as personal shortcomings?

In fact, in ALL ways, our greatest growth and strength comes from doing the things that require more effort. These experiences can become a measure of just how far we’ve come.

Medicine Circle teachings presented to me a traditional belief that “what we are healing for ourselves, we are also healing for ALL.” Framing in that light, a challenge can be transformed to become a Sacred Charge – one, that only the individual is fully capable to heal. It IS A TRUTH, as whatever we heal in ourselves changes the way we interact with those around us. Galactic Tone 11 indicates an opportunity for personal healing and transformation.

Regardless of feelings, press forward – and reach for the stars. Today’s Rabbit/Lamat is the gift of life and multiplication. We can use this day to create abundance and renewal of the things hoped for by simply remembering that we create what we focus on.

Spirit Tools – 10 Manik/DEER/Hand (Cherokee Deer Ahwu’sdi)

Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation
Manik/Deer/Hand: Spiritual Tools

Manik/Deer

Manik/Deer

What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present… that’s 10. Deer upholds the pillars of the 4 directions and brings the power inherent in the number 4, and is capable of pushing away bad influences or negative energies.

What we focus on becomes real. Deer guides us to understand that our focus and intentions are our most valuable Spirit tools. By shifting thoughts from fear to love and promise, we are nurturing the manifestation of things hoped for, versus the unwanted.

When I realize I am focusing on what’s unwanted or dreaded, I can see that I am internally experiencing those outcomes. I have framed a picture of what the unwanted looks and feels like – feeling it as if the unwanted is already happening. So, even if it has not yet happened or NEVER happens on the physical plane, I’ve still added the experience to my history.

We don’t HAVE to do that. We can bring more desirable experiences into our lives in exactly the same manner – by taking the time to examine what the DESIRED looks and feels like – as if the ‘wanted’ has already happened. In this way we can employ our tools of prayer, reflection and gratitude.

Among the most important Spirit tools is to just REMEMBER to apply what we already know. We must face the experiences of the world as they come, but we can change ALL the responses and the experiences that we, ourselves, create.

Deer also helps us to reframe our experiences. What we may see as unwanted still holds the keys of understanding. A dear friend used to say that even bad examples hold valuable information about what NOT to do. What we are open to learn from both our wanted and unwanted experiences are the valuable tools we can choose to carry forward.

Have you manifested new Spirit tools? Look deeply into the revelations of both dark and light and consider how applying this new information can bring you closer to the desired changes in your life.

Just as small adjustments in navigation can right the course to a destination, so can even the smallest of adjustments lead us closer toward our goals. Remember to choose and USE the Spirit tools you’ve been given.

9 Cimi/Transformer (Cherokee Twins Takato’ka)

Galactic Tone 9: Gaining a better perspective on the bigger picture
Cimi/Transformer: Life, Death, and Rebirth.

Cimi/Transformer9 Cimi calls us to re-evaluate how we see things – what stays, what goes, and what needs to be transformed. Anything that’s up for transformation is worth looking into again with open eyes and the willingness to see personal truth without blame or shame.

Regardless of the aspirations to live up to one’s highest calling, all humans fall short – especially when we measure our success by defined end-outcomes. “Becoming” is a process. When we can approach self awareness as something we build upon over time, making corrections is actually the evidence that we are navigating toward our goal – not evidence of failure.

The Fall Equinox represents a perfect balance with equal hours of day and night. So, the equinox also indicates a time of reflection on what was and what will be. With gratitude, look back on all you’ve accomplished, and forward to the potential of seeds of intention you’ve planted for the next harvest. Reflect on the lessons you’ve learned and how they can fully serve to become the worthy tools with which to nurture the dreams you’ve planted.

4 Crocodile/iMix (Cherokee Turtle Dak’si)

Turtle emerges as beginning of life on the Earth.

Turtle emerges as beginning of life on the Earth.

4 is the Galactic Tone of stability, bringing form and dimension as the 4 directions of the Medicine Wheel provide orientation, and height, width, length and depth bring shape to any form. It is a day to see the new creation taking form. Along the journey of life, 4 is the GPS moment that brings clarity to a new direction.

Crocodile/iMix is the very first Daykeeper sign in the 20 sign rotation, also bringing together the energy of “the One.” The Cherokee called this the day of the Turtle/Dak’si. Both signs reflect on the emergence of the family of life, bringing inspiration out of the primordial unknown. Native American tradition looks upon the Turtle as the sign of the Earth – Earth having risen from the oceans as the back of a turtle. . the source of first creation. The Mayan calendar acknowledges the 13 days as represented by the 13 sections on the back of a turtle. We are stabilizing the lightening inspiration of Flint, the divine Spark, creating new form and dimension.

CORE DAYS: Today is also the 121st day of the 260 Tzol’kin Calendar (Kin 121). The central column of the Tzol’kin as represented by the Galactic Butterfly, are the Core Days of the calendar… 20 days beginning Kin 121 through 140. Core days are a time for introspection and germination of the seeds of our intention, and a chrysalis that contains the essence of being. We enter as a caterpillar enters a cocoon to emerge as something new.

4 iMix/Dak’si is the place we stabilize into the great unknown that will show us who we are becoming.
