THE PINK NITROGEN FRINGE: Pink is not an easy color for auroras to make. Nevertheless, Karsten Berger saw it twice this week from High Level, Alberta. Here it is on Oct. 2nd.

This “nitrogen fringe” appears only during strong storms with extra-penetrating particles from space. The 5-day geomagnetic storm of Sept. 28th – Oct. 3rd includes several episodes of suitably strong storming. Did you see pink?

The Meaning of Creation

Love gives meaning to Life. Caring for someone else establishes personal value as Truth discerned through the heart. Love is the reason we tolerate human failures. Love is the reason we remember the blessing is greater than the curse.

Girlie the talking cat was a senior rescue. She became a handful in her senior years. She became “more trouble than she’s worth,” replaced by new pets before she was sent away to a cage in a small cement-block room with no windows. Love is the reason we will carry on together to the end.

SPACEWEATHER: Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope observed interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS Aug. 6, with its Near-Infrared Spectrograph instrument. Webb is one of NASA’s space telescopes observing this comet, together providing more information about its size, physical properties, and chemical makeup. Webb’s data, and a preprint is available online.

THE GREAT STARLINK RE-ENTRY EVENT: SpaceX just conducted a giant uncontrolled experiment in atmospheric chemistry.

Earlier this year, analysts noticed something strange: Starlink satellites were falling out of the sky–a lot of them. Four to five per day were re-entering Earth’s atmosphere and vaporizing in plain sight. This went on for months. Between December 2024 and July 2025, more than 525 Starlinks deorbited.
